Turns out 3 out of 4 of the young people who died in the #Cybertruck crash in Piedmont most notably the driver, were high on #drugs but this does not absolve #Swasticar of liability for the deaths.

I don't know but I'm guessing that 2 of the passengers in the back seat couldn't exit because there were high and because of the poor design of the vehicle. The only passenger to survive was probably in the front passenger seat & was only saved (based on prior reports) due to the efforts of a friend & #goodsamaritan who may have been in a following vehicle.

The survivor of the crash was probably high on drugs too but there's no info on any drug/alcohol testing on him.

This is all speculation but makes the most sense given what has already been reported about the accident.

Of course, Swasticar will try to blame everything on the use of drugs but, based on a comparative negligent liability theory, they should shoulder at least part of the "blame."

... stupid move on my part... and also illegal.

Anyway, as I was putting my phone away (no messages), the next car parked in front of me was this huge van that was parked in such a way that it protruded about 1 meter compared to the other cars, so I had to make an immediate evasive maneuver which resulted in a crash.

As luck would have it, some #GoodSamaritan foreign #bikepacking dude was going in the other direction. He pulled out a first aid kit to tend to my wounds. 🙏 Thank you, random guy!

The reason that Jesus used a Samaritan in the parable of the #GoodSamaritan was because Samaritans were a despised minority.

If Jesus were telling that parable in today's USA, the main character might be a Good Immigrant or a Good Trans-person. One of the points of the parable was teaching his followers not to be bigots when it came to "other" types of people.

"the Samaritan story is... a lesson of shared humanity in spite of hatred"

When people use "Good Samaritan", after the Biblical parable, they seem to lose the most important feature of the parable. It's not about a stranger rendering aid to another stranger.

It's about rendering aid to someone you truly, truly despise for religious and cultural reasons. It's about someone you truly despise going out of their way to help you when you've never given them a single bit of consideration.

From wiki:

"It is about a traveler (implicitly understood to be Jewish) who is stripped of clothing, beaten, and left half dead alongside the road. First, a Jewish priest and then a Levite come by, but both avoid the man. Finally, a Samaritan happens upon the traveler. Although Samaritans and Jews despised each other, the Samaritan helps the injured man."

Today, the #CarnegieHero Fund is announcing that 14 Americans and two Canadians are being recognized with a medal for life-risking heroism.

One recipient, a 17-year-old boy from Sunrise, Florida, is being recognized posthumously, as he suffered a neck injury and drowned attempting to save a man whose vehicle went into a dimly lit pond at night.

The link carries to a page with links summarizing what each hero did.
