That post by @cabel that I just reposted is crazy interesting. that DAK catalog and those that preceded it are essentially an enthusiast / hobby website, like #DPReview, or #CoffeeGeek or #Cocktailian, but long before the internet existed. This DAK guy and others before him ran an "enthusiast website" and sold stuff thru it, via a printed magazine catalog.

So cool.

cabel.com · DAK and the Golden Age of Gadget CatalogsHi. My name is Cabel. And I’ve probably got the neatest job in the whole world. I wear many hats. But here on my personal blog, I get to write about the things I really care about, just for y…

I'm not the only one walking away from Twitter. My good buddy, and #cocktailian Jacob Grier, in Portland, is taking similar steps (though he doesn't have a(n active) #Federverse account).

EDIT: as @Cyberpreppy points out, @jacobgrier is on Mastodon, but not active.

Suggestion: Visit Jacob on these other platforms and suggest he fire up his Mastodon account! He's got a lot to say, and most (not all lol) of it is great!

The recipe for the Americano appears to have originated in 1861 at Gaspare Campari’s bar in Turin, Italy where it was referred to as the "Milano-Torino".

This is a recipe I created in 2006 for an event at Tales of the Cocktail, and combines my love of both both Tiki and Star Trek 😉
