Passenger #rail connectivity in #Illinois is better than most other states, but it still has clear problems--Springfield to #Champaign is just over an hour by car, but 5.5-11.5 hours by train because you have to go to #Chicago first. This sets up an interesting optimization problem. What mile-minimal connections provide the most cross-station travel time reduction, weighted by population? I want a Quincy-Springfield-Decatur-Champaign line, but connecting Bloomington & Champaign's probably best.
