If you are somewhere the allergy season has started up, here's what I contend with in Phoenix this time of year. Both the palo verde and acacia trees have tiny yellow flowers that spread pollen. The one in the photo I linked to is actually palo verde. Got to get around to changing that ID in flickr from a photo I posted 15 years ago. If you spot one of these trees, drive away quickly! You know those yellow petals are going to end up blowing around in the air. Aaaaiieeee! #Allergy #Phoenix #Acacia #Yellow

As an #allergy sufferer in #nashville, I started tracking the local daily #pollen index in 2022. Easy to see a trend here, which matches what my nose/eyes feel as well. 2025 seems to be right on track. #pollen
I did not know this about nasal sprays so sharing here in case any of you also did not know it...
"If you taste it, you waste it!"
When using a nasal spray, make sure you’re looking down “nose to toes,” and point the spray out and towards your ear. Do not snort the medication. Just breathe normally.

The California Cure!
An 1887's version of allergy medication, notice the picture of the cat. *Achoo!~*
Was out hiking yesterday and today; am now feeling the "signature" tingling that is an early indicator of Poison-oak exposure...
Oh the joy of spring and hiking in Southern California: all clothes incl. jackets & shoes are going into the washer... emergency shower... wish me luck... (I've had the rash last year; it lasted for ~6 weeks)
Here's a photo of the villain in the story! Pretty, isn't it?
Accidentally bought a zero sugar drink with caffeine in, thought I’d try anyway. Yep, still sensitive to caffeine and/or sweeteners.
I’ve not actually missed fizzy drinks as much as I thought I would. I think it’s better to just steer clear, I’m used to no caffeine, sweeteners, gluten now.
Weakness #2: Additionally, littermate experiments showed that gain-of-function signaling of the IL-4 receptor (Il4raF709), which creates an allergic environment, is reversible if exposed to the correct microbiota.

Imploring the help of #vegans everywhere!
I want to give my girlfriend a nice valentine's fondue experience.
In addition to a dairy allergy, she also has tree nut and peanut allergies. Cashews and coconut are fine. Almonds are a big no.
With this in mind, what are the best nut-safe, vegan, gourmet cheeses for fondue, charcuteriebl boards, etc.? Asking for your favorite products and recipes !

Do you have guests for the holidays who are allergic to your pets? I wrote up my efforts to de-dander my house and what worked (and didn't).
PRO-TIP: de-dander dipping!
Details here: https://susankayequinn.com/2024/12/de-dander-dipping-for-the-holidays.html
Pro tip:
If you are baking gluten free biscuits to go with the turkey, don't substitute cashew milk for almond milk in the beson flour (chickpea flour) recipe or they will taste like corn flakes...
that is unless you happen to like cornflakes with your dinner.
