The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (#ACIP), made up of members recently hand-selected by #HHS Secy Robert F. Kennedy Jr., voted 5-1 on Thurs to recommend against #FluBaccines containing the preservative #thimerosal.

One committee member, Vicky Pebsworth, abstained on each vote.

All together, these #ACIP votes 26 June recommend against the use #thiomersal, which is the preservative currently used for multi-dose influenza vaccines. These vaccines had been used for about 5% of flu vaccines last season. If multi-dose vials are not available, that could limit the availability of the vaccine for some people. Making vaccines harder to package and transport makes it harder for people to get vaccines.

#ACIP votes Thursday afternoon 6/26: recommending that all adults receive influenza vaccines ONLY without #thiomersal as preservative.
