Day 4 about to begin. Finish strong! Starting with one of my absolute favorite Zorn projects, the Gnostic Trio = Frisell, Emmanuel, Wolleson (guitar, harp, vibraphone)

I've (re)discovered the most beautiful sound in the universe, and it's Gnostic Trio.

Sunday preaching freeform from Lonnie Holley with an allstar backing band.

Remember Drums and Tuba? This is like that, without the drums. Theon Cross.

Gonna try to squeeze in as many acts as possible today. Even more so. Lol. See how it goes.

Nate Wooley playing Eliane Radigue, the opening explanation of the piece/composer was fascinating. The "music" has mostly induced coughing fits throughout the crowd. Also fascinating.

Brian Marsella/Trevor Dunn/Kenny Wolleson dreamy af playing Zorn's Bagatelles at the Tennessee, but quick scooter ride to the Mill and Mine for some hitting-the-spot bluegrass with the always-fab Sierra Hull.

Earplugs-in jazz courtesy of James Brandon Lewis, backed by Josh Warner + Chad Taylor.

Didn't see absolutely *everything* today, but pretty damn close. Kinda crushed it kinda. Kinda. Final stretch...

A massive theater in Tennessee, of all places, filled up with people going nuts for the most wild-eyed of John Zorn projects is some **wild** shit, man. But it gives me faith.

The whiplash of genre, venue, volume, crowd, style, etc as I hop from set to set can be dizzying. I personally love it, but I don't think this pace is for everyone and you certainly can build your Big Ears into something completely your own and no less awe-inspiring.

Been a long while since last I saw Ribot's Los Cubanos, what a great way to bring the end of this weekend into view.

Today's this-and-that...

(secret set was Bela Fleck + Bassekou Kouyate at the church)

And *that* is how you livemusic, my friends. 80ish sets in 4 days.

Hope I can find some time to put some thoughts together. Feel free to bug me about it if I don't. Thanks for following along all weekend.

@Neddyo is this replacing Tapped In?

@Neddyo curious what your favorite non-Zorn, non-Frisell set ya saw was?

@Neddyo and thanks for letting those of us home follow along and live vicariously through you!
