Grant Green - Alive! (Blue Note, 2019 reissue, first released 1970)

Sweaty boogie down jazz fuuunnk recorded live at the Cliche Lounge in Newark, NJ on 8/15/70. First time I heard "Down Here on the Ground" was a jamais vu moment (thanks to Q-Tip): youtu.be/DZA8YFXMx3w?si=tYJXlB

@vinylrecords

@BEK97 yo this record is great. I’d never heard of grant green but I’m digging it. Love a good live record. Sookie Sookie in particular got me grooving.

Reminds me of The In Crowd by Ramsey Lewis Trio. You can hear the energy in the room.

@n0madz absolutely! a couple other hot live recordings of jazz funk from that era if you haven't heard:
Lonnie Smith - Live At Club Mozambique
Jimmy Smith - Root Down

@BEK97 all new to me so I’ll definitely be checking them out. Thanks for sharing!
