One of my bass clef heroes passed away today.
Phil Lesh had a profound impact on my musicianship, maybe as much as any musician ever has.
The clarity he played with was second to none. I try to play the tuba with the same "left edge" that he did.
His sense of line was magical.
He told every musical story with an urgency that is hard to teach.
He constantly led while never overstepping his role, the rarest of traits in a bass player.
Thanks for all of the music, Phil. You are dearly missed.
