Sure wish that muting a word or hashtag also meant muting all replies to a toot with that term in it. Lots of toots in my feed that are replies to a toot that isn't there which is useless clutter. I'm here for the long haul but that does not create a user experience that screams keep coming back.
@drewphish do you have the "Conversations" context set on your filters? the docs say that should include threads https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moderating/#filter-context
@clifff You are a life saver! Did not have that box checked and now that should be good. Now I just have to mute the people who routinely talk about the same things without the generosity of using a hashtag (which I try to do for the things I post about a lot) and then my timeline will be usable again. Thank you, sir!
@drewphish @clifff I’m definitely guilty of this the past few days. Been good using the hashtag in initial posts, but sometimes when replying I forget. Definitely part of the learning curve here.
@drewphish @Nolasox @clifff oh man I never use hashtags in replies .... #hashtags
@Phreba @drewphish @Nolasox to be clear - if a filter is using the "Conversation" context, it also excludes replies. I don't think there is any compelling reason to add hashtags when replying to a post that has them
@clifff @drewphish @Nolasox thanks for the clarification
@clifff @Phreba @drewphish Ah! Good to know. Thanks, Cliff!
