#NowPlaying Leo Kottke 6- and 12-String Guitar (Takoma, 1969), aka the Armadillo Album. #LeoKottke #guitar #folk #AmericanPrimitive @vinylrecords
Fun fact (not really, given the role of climate change): since this album was recorded, the nine-banded armadillo has expanded its range northward from TX-FL latitudes to parts of Illinois and NC, and it's still on the move, as is Leo.
@BEK97 This album is SO Good!
@aburtch it really is. I've got too many Leo Kottke records (they can be found for dirt cheap), and I appreciate his career arc, but nothing matches the spark of his debut imo.
@BEK97 Are you familiar with “Mudlark?” That one is my favorite.
@aburtch that's one of his few 70s records I don't have, and I can't say I've ever listened to it in full, though I do know some of those songs from an anthology I had on CD. Eight Miles High is great. I've bookmarked it for streaming, or better yet, the discount record bin.
@BEK97 I love it. It’s a little raw and unhinged (Monkey Lust) but his wild guitar playing shines.
