On a similar note - on Friday, I toured the Vancouver harbour, with staff from the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. These photos show the terminus of the TMX pipeline - where Alberta oil is loaded onto ships headed to Asia. Another reminder of how our provincial economies are deeply interconnected - and why Alberta is dependent on other Canadian provinces to succeed. #Vancouver #TMX #Alberta #ableg #cdnpoli #TRCM

@dyckron

If #Carney submits to Danielle Smith’s demands under #Alberta’s childish threat to separate, this #NDP voter will lend no more future votes to the #Liberals.

I live in an area upended by the #TMX construction for years. Hundreds of ignored protests, years of tall blue fences surrounding our local trails adorned with threats of incarceration. Dirty oiler flags and dirty workers smirking at residents anger as they idled their trucks for hours destroying our local habitat.

Alberta is admitting to #Canada they will never be content unless they are given carte blanche to destroy BC ecosystems and build new pipelines, despite lack of demand for their product.

There will always be another devastating project being forced upon us by #DanielleSmith and her heartless O&G Barons. This time, she’s content to sacrifice #BC’s #haidagwaii and North Coast, all for the sake of a dirty, greedy, corrupt Oil and Gas Industry. This will not end well.

Did #BC just flood the #PeaceValley to use #SiteC Dam power for LNG and an Bell/Grok AI data cluster?

Is this the start of US corporations drinking our water for memes of Will Smith eating spaghetti?

This is disturbing behaviour from our province. #BCNDP have clearly forgotten that they are on a razor’s edge and can be voted out easily.

Eby continues to embrace #LNG extraction in the wake of #TMX, #SiteC, #FairyCreek and now Elon’s #AI Data Centers will be drinking our water?

This #BCNDP is clearly no better than destructive #Conservatives, if they continue down this path they’ve lost my vote.

Trump is not an excuse to openly rape our Province for profit, #Eby is completely out of line and no different than #Horgan.

@revndm @GottaLaff absolutely.

The best and most impactful protest I was ever in was the huge #TMX pipeline protest in Vancouver a few years back. Even though it didn't stop the pipeline completely, it was a clear point in time where the population was in huge support of climate action related stuff and against more fossil fuel infrastructure. And it was the first big gathering combining First Nations as well as the general population.

For some quick back-of-the-envelope comparisons with current road, slow rail, and fast rail travel times according to Google Maps.

Toronto - Quebec City: 859km 🚙 8hr 🚂 10hr 🚆6hr (?)

Toronto - Montreal: 550km 🚙 5.5hr 🚂 5.5hr 🚆3hr (?)

Paris - Nice: 1000km 🚙 9hr 🚆 6hr

Paris - Marseille: 850km 🚙 8hr 🚆 3.5hrs

Boston - Washington DC: 700km 🚙 7.5hr 🚂 9hr

Detroit - Washington DC: 840km 🚙 8hr 🚂 14hr

Well holy high speed rail Batman, they’re building it!!

Initial planning cost of $4 Billion, final construction of the 1000km, 300kph line between Toronto and Quebec City could be up to the cost of 4 #TMX pipelines. ($80B).

Montreal to Toronto in 3hrs.

A large consortium is the winning bid and includes France’s SNCF and Air Canada.

Let me guess, the first “entity” a Canadian Pension fund takes majority control of will be some slimy oil interest. 🤮
In fact, I will go straight out on that limb and say it will be Trudeau’s Transmountain Boondoggle Climate Killer.

If it is my pension fund doing the buying you may hear the screams for miles….

CBCOttawa to remove investment cap for Canadian pension funds | CBC NewsFinance Minister Chrystia Freeland says the fall economic statement being released Monday will remove the cap that currently prevents Canadian pension funds from owning more than 30 per cent of the voting shares of a Canadian entity.

Where is our ‘effin #Novavax access #BCNDP? Adrian Dix promised my #immunocompromised #bced wife in the lead up to the election we would have access to Novavax. Why does this covid minimizing bcndp now fail to deliver on novavax and continue to stay silent on masking, long covid and covid awareness?

Was this just another of BCNDP false promises to garner votes, immediately cast aside by Bonnie Henry once you won?

What a completely pitiful government this BCNDP has been on Covid. Truly uninspiring, complacent to sickness and full of Bonnie Henry’s gaslighting.

Perhaps Eby and the rest of his bcndp are truly just full of bs, we already know Henry and Dix are.

Sure looks like Eby’s bcndp government has embraced gross negligence as their sole covid response. Nothing but a bunch of slimy Great Barrington crooks in suits. Sickening, pun intended.

This has been a Conservative tactic for years now, doing their dark fascist work in the middle of night when no one can see or document them.

The “proud boys” did something similar one night when we were protesting #TMX on Burnaby mountain.

The group, angry with our protests, had caught word that a local native chief was coming to do a blessing ceremony the next day.

They secretly moved in at night and erected a gigantic “Canadian Jobs Matter” sign adorned with flags right at the front. The next day Rebel News was out in force filming and shaming protesters in front of the sign.

They clearly had a high level of covert cooperation to get it done. I remember the custom printed sign looked pricey and was professionally installed on a metal frame with concrete bricks so no one could even budge it.

That was the first time I realized how dangerous and well funded the “proud boys” were. I even received a death threat on twitter during the time, as I had been live posting the event.

I was told I would receive “a bullet in the back of my head” for my posts. They wanted to threaten me out of protesting and posting. That was a decade ago now.

These days conservative fringe groups are even more emboldened and most are probably flush with #Russian cash. BC is truly in peril if these unruly thugs manage to get control.

@MatWright

Hey folks, next month there’s an angry & lighthearted book coming out with my name on the cover: “Standing on High Ground”. It’s an anthology of writing from people who were arrested protesting Canada’s awful “TMX” pipeline project. I’m an arrestee/ contributor & co-editor.
Here’s its official home: btlbooks.com/book/standing-on-
Here’s a blog piece full of background and pictures: tbray.org/ongoing/When/202x/20

This project means a lot to me and I’d appreciate anyone passing the word along.
