Christine Sætre-esque<p>“Small projects rule.” I’ve learned this over and over. And over. </p><p>1 - Salient engineering and design details matter in small projects. Big projects would rather talk about the budget.</p><p>2 - Small projects seem to allow CIO/CTO’s (and the project manager) to adopt a listen and learn approach. Big projects show less respect, wrestling or controlling the technical team rather than supporting their moves.</p><p>3 - Coordination and communication complexity and friction is lower in a small project. </p><p>And that last one REALLY matters.</p><p><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/failures" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>failures</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/retrospective" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrospective</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tech</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TechProjects" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TechProjects</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/engineering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>engineering</span></a></p>
Christine Sætre-esque<p>This is my first time, but apparently tech project failure is now normal. Yikes.</p><p>“The new failure normal is now officially the technology business, and, for some inexplicable reason, hope always springs eternal. Maybe it’s because the consequences of failure are so small.” (Forbes)</p><p><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tech</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TechProjects" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TechProjects</span></a> <br><a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/steveandriole/2021/03/25/3-main-reasons-why-big-technology-projects-fail---why-many-companies-should-just-never-do-them/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">forbes.com/sites/steveandriole</span><span class="invisible">/2021/03/25/3-main-reasons-why-big-technology-projects-fail---why-many-companies-should-just-never-do-them/</span></a></p>
