All saved tomato seeds from last year have sprouted up and the tomatillo seeds I gathered from the ground in the garden a month ago are up too. Heat mat turned off. They were started on April 1.

First tomatoes are up, peppers are growing fast, and some new growth on the overwintered Red Marconi sweet pepper that I pruned and fertilized.
Basil is looking good, I've kept a loose cover over it so it's not drying out fast. Peppers are starting to grow fast with roots seen in the smaller pots and the latest transplants in the big pots aren't dying so maybe not over fertilized but we'll see.
Still got a lot of seeds to sow but things are well under way. Very happy with all my little babies. #allotment #gardening #greenhouse #seedlings
My 'Mikado' tomato seedlings graduated to 4" pots today. I am so proud of them. #tomato #tomatoes #gardening #seedlings #solanum #allotment #VegetableGardening
Germination achieved for 'Mikado' (a potato-leaved heirloom and possible ancestor of 'Brandywine'), 'Honey Drop' (an open-pollinated yellow cherry touted as tasting like white grapes), and 'San Marzano' (a plum choice for canning). #tomatoes #garden #gardening #seedlings #germination #vegetables #allotment
It’s the weekend, so more odd contraptions.
A rack for seedling pots that I made for my wife. It’s designed to be propped vertically in the greenhouse, to make the most of space - but cobbled together so that whatever angle it’s at, the pots stay upright. Bit like the seats on a Ferris wheel.
The whole thing is on a pair of wheels, so that at hardening-off time (we’re still supposed to do that, right?), it can be trundled out and propped against a sunny wall, without everything falling out.
Seedlings in progress, in my new greenhouse. Tomatoes! Corn! Cucumbers! More tomatoes! Cantaloupe! Watermelon! Even more corn! Even more tomatoes! And also lots of flowers - some for pest deterrent, some for deer deterrent, and a whole lot for bees and butterflies.

"#Gardeners and #orchardists are invited to bring their seeds, #scionwood and #cuttings to share. If you don’t have any, come anyway!

We also regularly have over 150+ types of scionwood to share, including scionwood sourced from MOFGA’s orchards. We will also have limited quantities of #rootstock for sale. Custom grafting is available by donation to the #MaineHeritageOrchard.
"Other items for sharing are welcome such as plants, cuttings, #seedlings, hatching eggs, #kombucha and #YogurtStarters, #salves and other #homemade items.

More #SaladGreens have sprouted in my seedling trays. I sow new seeds every 2 weeks to ensure we have ongoing greens to eat, year round. I grow some foods, through Fall & Winter. These are #endives & assorted #lettuce #plants.
I finally get around to looking up the campari tomatoes, which the seed are sold as 'mountain magic' and to my surprise I see they are indeterminate. These are seeds from those hybrids. I figured like most commercial tomatoes they would be determinate but I guess since they are hot house grown they have them on the roller-hook trellis setup. I might have to setup the space at the end of the pepper row for some more trellis.

BEANS!!!!!!!!!
Acclimating some of the seedlings!
Lots of #basil #seedlings with 3 #cucumber babies. Small pink #flowers on #chives.
My #cantaloupe #seedlings.
Hopefully I'll get more than 2 cantaloupes this year. Last year was my first time trying to grow cantaloupes. Most of them failed due to neglect. I was too stressed/overwhelmed after my Dad died from long covid cardiac arrest early last June - many of my plants didn't make it.

Peanut seedlings are coming up! This is my first year growing peanuts so the seed starting has been a little nail biting.
Ensure seedling success: Gradually acclimatize to outdoor conditions over a week. Plant in rich, well-draining soil after frost risk passes. Water at the base to avoid wet leaves, protect from intense early sun And allow for room to grow. #GardeningGuide #Seedlings
