ID The SeaFourspot Butterflyfish (Chaetodon quadrimaculatus) – This distinctive butterflyfish gets its name from the four small white spots—two on each side—near the base of its dorsal fin. Found on coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific, particularly around Micronesia and the central Pacific, it primarily feeds on coral polyps, making it a specialist feeder. Unlike some butterflyfish that roam in pairs, the Fourspot Butterflyfish is often seen alone or in small groups. Its reliance on live coral means it's sensitive to reef health and habitat changes, making it an indicator species for reef ecosystems. Species #002! I hope you’ll follow along! ScubaHankNYCTails of Adventure: My Unexpected Meeting with a Mozambique LionfishAs I descended into the clear waters of Mozambique, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement. Our dive plan was to explore a rocky pinnacle teeming with marine life. Little did I know I was about to have a face-to-face encounter with an unexpected guest.As we swam closer to the pinnacle, I spotted a majestic lionfish hovering above the rocks. Its vibrant stripes and majestic fins made it a stunning sight. I quickly hit record on my camera. I wanted to capture the moment. As soon as I started filming, the lionfish began to descend.What happened next left me breathless. In some cases, they can lead to more serious complications, such as respiratory distress or even paralysis. They are often perceived as bloodthirsty killers. This fear is heightened every time a shark attack hits the headlines. In response, beaches around the world are closed, nets are set up and sharks are systematically slaughtered. Living with sharks seems incompatible with our new lifestyles. Yet one country has made a radically different choice: the Bahamas. This paradise archipelago, which welcomes nearly 7 million visitors every year, has declared́ its waters "shark sanctuaries". How do locals and tourists manage to live with these large predators? Would it be possible to get close to those considered to be man-eaters? To answer this question, photographer Rodolphe Guignard takes us to the heart of shark territory.
