Today I learned<p>TIL that the famous "We Can Do It!" poster was barely known during WWII. It was displayed for two weeks as part of a series of posters to boost worker morale in one company's factories. It remained virtually unknown until the 1980s when it was rediscovered in an article about the National Archives.</p><p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Can_Do_It!#Rediscovery" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Can_D</span><span class="invisible">o_It!#Rediscovery</span></a><br><a href="https://noc.social/tags/til" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>til</span></a> <a href="https://noc.social/tags/todayilearned" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>todayilearned</span></a><br><a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/1cnd4r3/til_that_the_famous_we_can_do_it_poster_was/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">reddit.com/r/todayilearned/com</span><span class="invisible">ments/1cnd4r3/til_that_the_famous_we_can_do_it_poster_was/</span></a></p>
Mark McElroy<p>The <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Napkin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Napkin</span></a> app -- the one that dredges up past notes and presents them as clusters of related ideas -- offers a functionality I find interesting ... but not particularly useful as a stand-alone app.</p><p>What plug-ins for <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Obsidian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obsidian</span></a> or <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/Logseq" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Logseq</span></a> offer similar functionality? (This might be where an AI would be actually useful: pointing out and presenting notes that are thematically similar.)</p><p><a href="https://pkm.social/tags/PKM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PKM</span></a> <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/NoteMaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NoteMaking</span></a> <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/rediscovery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rediscovery</span></a></p>
BuriedByLife<p>I have been racking my brain trying to remember a show. I hope someone can remember it so I can find it. It was a lifestyle show probably early 2000s. The host was named Trini or something similar. Not sure if she identified as transgender or not, but she would have all these lifestyle tips and even showed how a public self cleaning restroom worked. I also remember an episode where she did a whole menu of 50s dishes with jello and retro recipes. <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/OldShow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OldShow</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/HelpMe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HelpMe</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/Rediscovery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rediscovery</span></a></p>
