Francisco LitardoMy daughter and her partner embarked on a 2-week <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/roadtrip?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#roadtrip</a> from <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/KansasCity?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#KansasCity</a> to <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Kenai?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Kenai</a>, <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Alaska?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Alaska</a>. What a gift after a long journey. They still have miles to go, but they're almost there. Just A Dad Who Loves His Kids :QueerCatHeart_Trans:<p>My <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Trans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trans</span></a> child has recently discovered the early 1990s <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Spiderman" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spiderman</span></a> animated series. I wanted to share some comics and <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/LGBTQIA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LGBTQIA</span></a> history with them. But I waited. I watched the series when it was new, so I knew what was coming up.</p><p>Today, they got to the <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/XMen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>XMen</span></a> crossover plot line. They actually paused the first episode to ask, “Can you tell me who these people are?” “Oh! They’re the X-Men! A team of mutants who had an awesome series at the same time as Spider-Man!” “Oh, cool!”</p><p>“You want to know something about them?” “OK.” “When the X-Men were first introduced in the comics in the ‘60s, and ever since then, they were an allegory for <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Gay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gay</span></a> people. Since then, the allegory has expanded to include the entire LGTBQIA+ community.”</p><p>Their eyes lit up, and I heard a line-by-line commentary as they continued watching the episode.</p><p>Seeing my youngest so happy about seeing themself in older media filled me with so much joy. I hope to learn of more earlier media to share with them.</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ProudFather" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProudFather</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Parenting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Parenting</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/lgbtqally" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lgbtqally</span></a></p>
