Nick Castellanos hit a HR to LCF. Giants 6 Phillies 4 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th.

Taijuan Walker is a crafty pitcher with a wicked splitter (when it stays up enough). Giants batters are not swinging at strikes in the middle of the strike zone. I think they're having trouble picking up the splitter, and mistake other pitches for it. Esp. his 4-seam.

Bottom of the 5th now, still 6-3.

Oh. The pitcher suckered Flores. After not swinging at 2 called strikes up and away, he swung at one about a ball's width up and outside. Hat tip for whoever called for that pitch.

Bailey singled to RF. One out. Top of the 4th. Still 6-3 Giants.

The Giants are an interesting mix of batters off to a good start, and batters who are definitely not. In his last AB, LaMonte Wade, Jr. struck out swinging at a tempting pitch just outside of the strike zone. Down to .111 now.

Sure, it might be mechanics. It also might be someone in need of an optometrist.

No score in the top of the 3rd. 2 outs, nobody on, in the bottom of the inning. Still 6-3 Giants.

It wasn’t a great night for the Phillies last night against the Cards, but I don’t think they’d have run on Stubbs quite so easily, and Marchan went 0-3. I don’t ever remember Stubby throwing the ball into the outfield, either.

The definition of spoiled. I'm so used to seeing #Phillies catcher JT Realmuto gun down base stealers with regularity. But He's not playing tonight. The Phillies backup catcher just threw a ball in the center field trying to nail a base stealer. I can't even remember the last time I saw a Phillies catcher throw the ball into the outfield like that. Cause I'm spoiled. Thx JT. You da man.

The #Dodgers lost today's game 7-8 to the #Phillies & lost the series 2-3 to "fall" to a record of 9-2 (.818) putting the #SFGiants in 1st place in the NL West at 7-1 (.875) pending the result of the game now being played which the Giants currently lead 4-3 over the #Mariners goibg into the top of the 9th.

If they win, the Giants stay in 1st place at 8-1 (.889). If they lose, they fall back ro 2nd at 7-2 (.778).
