Tim PommorinAs already mentioned, in Paracas the desert meets the ocean. There is nothing in between. The small town of Paracas, of course. But in terms of landscape, the beach merges directly into the desert. But let's not forget the sea. Fantastically beautiful. And penguins! We were very excited about that! Penguins in the wild! The most famous sight is of course the so-called candelabra of Paracas; a geoglyph whose shape is actually a little reminiscent of a three-armed candlestick.This approximately 170 metre high carving is over 2000 years old. ・ Image description: 1/3 A group of over a dozen black and white Humboldt penguins stand on a barren rock. Their distinctive shape and the stark contrast of their plumage stand out well against the blue sky behind them. A Peruvian gannet flies in the sky. 2/3 The candelabra of Paracas seen from the sea. Blue ocean in the foreground. A white and red boat enters the picture from the left. In the background the rocky cliffs. Their ochre colour merges directly into dune-like sand hills. A large geometric figure is carved into the soft sand. It is reminiscentof a three-armed candlestick, or three ears of grain sharing a common stem. 3/3 Turquoise water in the foreground. A rocky island. Cliffs shoot up steeply and form an almost levelled plateau. In the centre of the picture, an almost perfectly semi-circular arch cut out of the stone by wind and water, making the cliff look like a bridge.
