Mike :nixos:<p>Thanks to everyone who suggested the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Cosmic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cosmic</span></a> store as a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a> software replacement that works with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/flatpak" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>flatpak</span></a> </p><p>Testing it with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/nixbook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixbook</span></a> on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/cinnamon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cinnamon</span></a> and so far it's great!</p>
Mike :nixos:<p>Hmm wondering if anyone can help me with a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> question.</p><p>I'm running <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/nixos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixos</span></a> with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a> 48, and even though I disabled automatic updates and notifications in Gnome Software.. still, every day, I get a notification saying "Updates are out of date" (even though when i click on it, it shows no updates)</p><p>Oddly enough, this is also happening on my project <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/nixbook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixbook</span></a> , which is cinnamon (but still running gnome software)</p><p>How can I stop this!?!?!</p>
Mike :nixos:<p>I just got 6 more <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/nixbook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixbook</span></a> ready to go to new homes.</p><p>This is 6 more people who's lives will be positively changed by getting a great laptop for free, with solid FOSS software on it.</p><p>Think of how much this helps even the digital divide. I'm dedicated to make this my life's work at the moment. Imagine if companies could safely offload their "old" hardware, and it could end up like this, for the public good.</p><p>Again, huge thanks to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/nixos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixos</span></a> and all of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/foss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>foss</span></a> for making this possible!</p>

I was prepping two laptops here for sofa usage - a Win10 machine and a Surface Pro that I was considering testing <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/nixbook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nixbook</span></a> on. On hold for the moment while I twiddle around with the Air.</p>
