40 years ago today, New Order released their third album, 'Low-Life', which saw the band seamlessly fuse rock and electronics and complete their transformation from post-punk to dance rockers.
Originally cut to less than 5 minutes and stylistically in stark contrast to the rest of the album, the full 17-minute version of cinematic instrumental heavyweight 'Elegia' still holds its own in the band's catalogue.

Thanks to the amazing #letterboxd community I, a self proclaimed New Order fan, just found out that the 1983 song Thieves Like Us is named after the 1974 Robert Altman feature, Thieves Like Us.
I have never seen the film. It’s now on my watchlist!
