(((Cindy Weinstein)))<p>I was so lucky to get to go this summer to Sylvia Beach's Shakespeare and Company, the iconic Paris bookstore. that opened in 1919 The line, to my delight, was incredibly long and everyone was happily waiting to check out the gems inside. Especially impressive to me were the collection of <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Beat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Beat</span></a> writers, Paul <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Auster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Auster</span></a> and Vladimir <a href="https://zirk.us/tags/Nabokov" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nabokov</span></a> novels. Même avec toutes les clefs en main, je trouve ce roman très difficile à lire, je n’ai pas réussi à le terminer, Humbert Humbert me donne vraiment trop la nausée . Deirdre Spencer<p>My son gave me a book of (very) short stories by Nabokov for my birthday, and in the first tale, “The Wood-Sprite,” I came across a wonderful word that was new to me: tintinnabulation, meaning a ringing or tinkling sound. </p><p>It rather delighted me, so I thought I’d share it with you.</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/WordOfTheDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordOfTheDay</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/language" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>language</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/vocabulary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vocabulary</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Nabokov" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nabokov</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/tintinnabulation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tintinnabulation</span></a></p>

Rapid Eye Electronics Ltd<p>I know I really should be better than being suckered into the ‘utterly subservient &amp; loyal &amp; ridiculously beautiful sad-smiling virtual women’ tropes that are being played with (or perhaps even exploited) in <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/bladerunner2049" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bladerunner2049</span></a> but then they cast <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/AnadeArmas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AnadeArmas</span></a> as Joi and have her bring out <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/Nabokov" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nabokov</span></a> ‘s <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/PaleFire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PaleFire</span></a> &amp; offer to read it out loud and, well, um…</p>
Eric Roston<p>4. Ada, or Ardor | Nabokov 1969<br>The title itself is a puzzle before you even open to the first (dense) page. "Ad" is "hell" in Russian, "da" means "yes" and in British English "Ada" and "Ardour" are homophones, so it all sounds like ["Ada oh Ada"]. A typically lyrical, despicable <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/Nabokov" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nabokov</span></a> love story (the protagonist's surname is Russian for "guilt" [Veen]), a lifetime long, the whole thing taking place among and between three languages, on another planet. <br><a href="https://bookshop.org/p/books/ada-or-ardor-a-family-chronicle-vladimir-nabokov/15563782?ean=9780679725220" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bookshop.org/p/books/ada-or-ar</span><span class="invisible">dor-a-family-chronicle-vladimir-nabokov/15563782?ean=9780679725220</span></a></p>
