Great inventions of cycling: gravel.
Finally, a use for gravel! We can all be thankful to marketing departments of bicycle manufacturers.

Y'all, the Wi-fi at my grandma's is crazy. I'm in a room down the hall, at the edge of reception. And sometimes even playing a MUD is slow, and then there's this. 7.2 MB/s - 345 MB of 1.2 GB, 2 mins left
Happy Anniversary, Evennia!!
Evennia is a modern text-based game engine that helps you create your own #MUD games for free.

Yes! The thrill of logging in to an archaic multi user dungeon via the shiny modern protocol of SSH is now possible.
Slogging through dungeons and taverns via teletype interface is not usually an activity requiring high security, but telnet is not really advisable in a lot of situations these days.

'cuz what kinda game would we be without an obvious money sink?!
I guess my November YouTube videos is weekly Aardwolf MUD gameplay. :0

We haven't shared anything in a hot minute, largely because we've been heads down working on #quests, which are hard to share without spoiling! So we made a "just for funsies" one to show off some of the mechanics in action.
Screenshot #1 - Receiving quest + reviewing new entry in player's quest log.
Screenshot #2 - Player finding the gate and interacting with it.
Screenshot #3 - Player figuring out how to open the gate.
Screenshot #4 - Returning to the NPC/quest giver with some treasure from beyond the gate and completing the quest/receiving rewards.
@mdhughes do you (or anyone) have a #MOO / #MUD client on iphone or ipad? *chatter is asking for suggestions in #lambdaMOO
By the way, #lispyGopherClimate at 000UTC Wednesday on https://anonradio.net:8443/anonradio will be us going through the #emacsconf2024 schedule while hanging out in #lambdaMOO. If you are on or interested in that, drop by and *chatter in Paradise Sushi in tinytown in https://lambda.moo.mud.org/ . A reminder that wrog's #mud client protocol #emacs mode is over here -> https://wrog.net/emacs/mud-mcp_2_0.el
Which will also be the textual live Q&A base for me at the conference! So you may as well get started now (tomorrow).
Get on this! Social.lol is 100% the server I'd be on if I weren't self-hosting, and I still have @calebhearth as a backup. Amazing community over there. You also get a bunch of other services like a simple website, blog, #MUD, pastebin, email forwarding, and more at https://omg.lol.
Also I picked up @c for a $500 St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital donation as a lifetime address the first time around and I'll be very sad if it doesn't make it to at least that

Guess who's finding her joy in the mud puddle?

I am almost done with the academy in #Aardwolf #MUD I just have to explore more and do another quest.
I did randomly wander to the Carnivale, widdle some wood, did some jousting, etc.
Also wandered somewhere else and adopted a Dodo.
Then wandered to a farm and killed weeds and beetles that were attacking crops.
I don't know what I'm doing I'm just exploring.
Are there any MUDs that are kind of like some of the modern text adventures where they're running in a GUI window with some still graphics, but still a text based game? (Like maybe art of towns or NPCs).
Or do any have plugins for MUD clients that do this sort of thing? That'd be interesting.
