Kicking off the week with my Tidal #DiscoveryMonday playlist and it's a sonic adventure! Expect a blend of new wave hits from The Police and Haircut 100, the unique sounds of Jona Lewie and GANGgajang, the atmospheric beauty of Nine Horses and Rain Tree Crow, a reggae classic from The Paragons, and even a gorgeous Bach largo. A truly diverse mix to get the week started! Check it out: tidal.com/browse/mix/016dfd2ab #MusicLover #PlaylistDrop #MondayVibes

This piece I still considered part of my pink period, but you can see I started being a little more expressive with color, so it's not the main color of the image. This was my first attempt at painting a person with black skin tones. Wasn't sure I could do it, honestly. Again, I wasn't used to painting with color, so I was very nervous to try and put something out there that showed anyone's realistic skin tone. I started listening to Anderson .Paak and painted this piece to fit the vibe I was feeling when listening to his music. On another account I think I mistakenly attributed this piece to Smino's Luv4Rent album, but looking back I think that album might not have been out yet. The further away from these pieces I become, the harder it is to remember what was going on at the time I created them (which is why I figured this would be a good opportunity to journal about them now.) I call it Sitting in a Vibe, and it's one of the pieces I'm most proud of. It was the first time that people really started responding to my art, and that filled me with pride and made me want to keep going. I actually printed it for someone who wanted to buy for their house which was a big moment for me. I am using a flat oil brush in infinite painter for this piece and I started getting much better at blending at this point. When I posted it the first time, I made mention that it took me 25000 pen strokes, which my program conveniently tracks for me. At the time of creation, I was away from my pregnant wife getting trained to do my job that I'm doing currently, so I had some time to focus and really work on detail. It's a little harder these days, but that doesn't mean I stop creating. I'm in a transformative part of my life (being a dad), and I love it.
