Here's a video using audio analysis (via SP-Tools) to control a ciat-lonbarde Clicker:
youtube.com/watch?v=q_ECFimvxN

Darker/less-noisy sounds are triggering the lower “kick”-sounding voice, and brighter/noiser sounds are triggering the brighter “snare”-sounding voice.

Then my loudness and brightness (via spectral centroid) are controlling the CV inputs on the Clicker, changing the “pitch” and overall duration of the impulses heard.

Hello, I'm Orion, this is my Fediverse #introduction

I'm a musician from Nova Scotia, principally playing electric bass. Currently in my last year of study for undergrad music.

I am interested in contemporary #composition, #musicproduction, and performance, mainly in the realm of improvised music, new complexity, and jazz. #AbletonLive is my DAW of choice, dabbling in #MaxMSP and other software.

Other hobbies are #photography #ttrpg #linux #fountainpens #mma

what's up with #maxmsp #max8 bubble text content in module documentation being unreadable when using any dark theme? It seems like some adapt, but some have the text color specified rather than using the default. Shouldn't be too hard to perform a batch update; can prob do myself locally 🦤

Hi, I am a sound designer and engineer.

I like programming sounds with #pd, #maxmsp and hardware synths, DAW's, etc. But tools don't matter in the end as you probably know, aesthetics do -- and reverb algorithms. Do you know any?

I spent too much time with #linux and #haskell. I reaaaally don't like commercial ads. After all, is the internet post-modern?

My favorite emoticon is the smiling face with tear.

I toyed around with gabber:

I have a new track out today! applytriangle.bandcamp.com/tra

It's a glitchy, experimental trio for flute, clarinet, and MIDI keyboard/Max. There are Morse code and other ham radio samples, electric piano, and bowed cardboard box, and it's surprisingly groovy.

The full album has 11 different composers, and you can find it here: applytriangle.bandcamp.com/alb

Well, my previous instance seems to have died while changing hosts, so let's do the intro thing again.

I'm a #composer and #performer of #experimentalmusic (I play #mandolin, #violin, #uke, #synths, and do interactive computer programming in #MaxMSP, #PureData, #SuperCollider, and #SonicPi). College prof in #MusicTech and #composition, where I get to teach #VideoGameMusic among other things. #Runner, #TTRPG fan, and #coffee aficionado, and I speak both #English and a decent amount of #French.

Continued thread

Using pure #musicSynthesis, you either have to forego all that, and settle for a characteristically sterile sound, or else make up for it by your own painstakingly detailed efforts, which I haven’t had the patience to learn to do. On the other hand, the possibilities of #algorithmic processes (not “AI”) and live interaction (e.g. #MaxMSP) are quite attractive. And using #samples rather than synthesis can preserve the organic complexity of sound that I like—as long as you don’t overcook it.
