Billions wasted, mysteries unsolved: The missions #NASA may be forced to abandon.

#Mars Sample Return: The mission: Bring back the first samples from another #planet, look for signs of #life, and prepare for future crewed exploration of Mars.

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope: The mission: Discover what #planets are like throughout the galaxy, search for black holes, and help reveal the nature of dark energy.

DAVINCI: The mission: Descend to the surface of #Venus and probe its atmosphere along the way, testing whether the planet ever had oceans or could have hosted life.

VERITAS: The mission: Map the surface of Venus and study its interior, unveiling how the planet has changed over time.

TESS: The mission: Discover thousands of planets around the nearest stars.

A groundbreaking study reveals that billions of years ago, Mars experienced significant precipitation—either rain or snow—that carved out extensive networks of valleys and channels across its surface. Join Beth Johnson and Dr. Amanda Steckel as they discuss the results of this study and its implications for finding life, especially past life, on Mars.

The core is apparently still somewhat plastic (moving, flowing) just not enough.

And thank you for passing along your find.

The spin up, by the way, may provide some surface water by itself

If spinning up Mars does increase core heat, old Martian water, that has fallen deep into the Mars crust, will be forced out, just as it is on earth.*

Bip bip bip on the edge is the path forward.

Rage of the #Oligarchs - #NaomiKlein: ‘What They Want Is Absolutely Everything’

The all-star academic and Shock Doctrine author breaks down the dark logic of Trump and Musk’s path of destruction — and what the world’s richest people really want

May 4, 2025

Excerpt: [Klein] "But now, #capitalism has entered a radical and #apocalyptic phase. There is no #utopian vision in any of this. Instead, there’s a final battle. And this is where it gets really dark. The people who are advancing this agenda are also building their #LuxuryBunkers and their #spaceships to #Mars. They don’t believe that there is a future. These people believe history is ending, literally. It’s end times! Get onto your rocket ship, or get into your golden city in the sky. And that is distinct."

Lets treat Mars as loved one and help it recover, and not a squat filled with garbage. Love Mars back to health and enjoy a reborn home.

The rotation slowed, the atmosphere evaporated over millennia. Both remedial. Don't think cheap, or quick. Help Mars to its feet.

#Musk 1st announced his intention to build #space-based #internet, which he would eventually call #Starlink, in 2015. He had plans to settle #Mars, …the moons of #Jupiter, & maybe #asteroids too. All those space colonies would have to be connected via #satellite-based communication; Starlink itself might…be adapted for this use. Indeed, Starlink’s terms…ask customers to affirm they “recognize Mars as a free planet & that no Earth-based govt has authority or sovereignty over Martian activities.”

There's something really special about seeing the atmosphere fade into the darkness of space in images from orbit (except if you're a flat-planeter)
