Alfred Chow - Maker of ThingsToday I put bedding in the wash, Then went to the community workshop. We had a little meeting, About raising funds for insurance fees. Then I cut up a bit of Laburnum log, I need to make new scales for my keyfold. Popped into work, To check on the new drain installation. Forgot to pick up my prescriptions, So had to pop back out. Did a little admin, And watched a few videos. Did caretaking, And skipped some lumps of concrete. Introduced Mum to the tiny Lidl rice cooker, Hopefully she will get a lot of use from it. Made the bed with clean fresh bedding, Then joined in <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/MakersHour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MakersHour</a>. What bodge of yours' remains?A5: Last century, the handle broke on a toilet cistern. I very quickly made up a new one from a block of hardwood. It is still there and in use. Like the seam of the down sleeping bag in the middle of a winter hike. Thank god for travel sewing kits. My favourite is the on the road reconstruction of a bicycle pedal with a knife and a spoon. I can't find any pictures of that one though, so here's a sandal that fell apart on holiday (the glue had disintegrated) that I sewed back together. <a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/MakersHour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MakersHour</a>

We then wrap that "open cylinder" around the exhaust pipe just where the hole was punched by a rock ("ahhh, THAT'S the noise!") and then jubilee clip it on either side. Total fix was half an hour, including making and eating beans on toast. Fix outlived the rest of the car as far as I know.

Suddenly sounded like a huge marine diesel, which it wasn't. Drove the (thankfully) half mile home, expecting to be in all sorts of trouble.Dad takes one listen and tells me I need to make beans on toast to fix it. OK, weird punishment, but I do. While we were all out on a road trip the clutch pedal broke on my car. I managed to keep driving without the clutch until we found somewhere to park to check out the damage. I then walked to the nearest Halfords, bought a few basic tools and some hose clamps. Using the hose clamps, and the leaf springs from my old wiper blades, I was able to make a temporary repair on the clutch pedal. It has got me eye rolling sighs, face palms, and great mirth and hilarity at times, though.Though, thinking back to school days, making my own take on school uniform got me praise from most teachers but a lot of trouble from the deputy head. This week I've been at the workshop just about every day, trying to get commissions finished and out the door before Dragon Con in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, one customer realized that he had sent me the wrong 3D model only after I had molded it and cast a bunch of buckles. (There, satisfied?!?)A1: Hello, I am Alfred, maker, carer, caretaker, and miniaturist story teller. Not so much made as repaired one of my mini chainsaws. A gear on a shaft had too much end float and was not keyed. Being a cheap tool I just opted to TIG weld the two together and call it done. I suppose I ‘made’ it work again. I have also made an addition to my tool kit. A new Aldi Ferrex Inspection Camera. It has video and image recording, and USBc connectivity. The camera and screen are pretty good, too.
