I don't know.</p><p>What I do know is that my father used to be a <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/CNC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CNC</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/machinist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>machinist</span></a>. Ever the liberal <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Republican" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Republican</span></a>, he told me only one time how silencers are made. I've forgotten his description, but I realized back then he did know what he was on about. I'm not really sure, but Dad actually could have known all that he knew from at least one bad cop, while he lived in San Diego years ago. My Dad said at one point this San Diego cop tried to extort money from him in some dumb scheme but in a minor way. My Dad was not a criminal. He owned a TV repair business when TV's still had vacuum tubes inside them. There were criminal elements in the SD area during the seventies and this could have have been one reason both my father and his new wife, my young Mom, moved up to Oregon.</p><p>I know enough to know that a metal silencer is not something you build in 10 minutes and then snap onto the business-end of a rifle or semi-automatic weapon. It takes precision to design, craft, etc. a working silencer. There is tolerancing and dimensions to constructing such a device that take a certain minimum amount of skill and practice. I worked in a machine shop long enough to understand only that much and certainly no more than that.</p><p>Peace out, guys. That young guy, vigilante, or whoever he thinks he is, probably is going to go out in a hail of police gunshots. No joke. The system hates instigators who target the rich. Please do ask me anything other than why I don't know anything about that. Haha?</p>

I inherited a collection of tools which includes these apparently-high-precision calipers and micrometers. Not totally sure what they are but listed accuracies are 0.0001 inches. My guess is that this is worth a fair bit. Is this worth trying to sell?</p>
