Bernadette A. Lear<p>Recently, I've started to pay more attention to the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/lyricists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lyricists</span></a> and other personnel listed on the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> I listen to, and I am learning about a vast pool of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/musicians" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>musicians</span></a> I've never heard of. For example, many of the songs on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BonnieRaitt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BonnieRaitt</span></a> 's first album were written by <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Black" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Black</span></a> people. Can the industry do a better job of acknowledging everyone's contributions? Maybe <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DJ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DJ</span></a> s should mention songwriters and soloists when announcing <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/bands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bands</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/vocalists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vocalists</span></a> ?</p>
