The #bass is done. Shout out to New Perspectives Music for the plans and guidance. Since I don’t play, my daughter is the tester and says it plays well. I’ll revisit the setup in a week or two. Single active pickup is from EMG and the strings are from Ernie Ball bought at ‘N Stuff Music in #pittsburgh. Just found a bit of time for an old hobby similar to #hamradio I enjoy working on equipment more than actually using it here an old #Yamaha #Pacifica gets a new neck finish, fresh polished Fred's and a cleaned fredboard. The next step will be to install locking tuners and put other Pickups in the Body. I have the parts here laying around for several years now #guitar #luthier

I glued the bubinga fingerboard to the #bass neck this afternoon. The hard maple neck is reinforced with 2 (probably overkill) carbon fiber rods and a truss rod. Inlays and side markers are Total Boat #epoxy with Black Diamond Pigments for the blue/green color. Spent some time with my best friend today, who is a bit of a #luthier himself. Changed the strings to flat wound chromes (my favourite) polished the frets, filed the nut (actual bone nut) to get it a bit more even. Had to open up the B string’s slot in the nut because the flat wound B was a tiny bit fatter than the original. Made sure it had good contact with the zero fret.

Intonation is good. Action feels great. It’s a better instrument than I deserve. Gotta get better at playing!

It plays like a whole new #bass. I’m super pleased.

On to the fingerboard for the #Bass project. Made from a piece of Bubinga I’ve had for many years with Total Boat epoxy inlays, I’m installing the frets here using my drill press and an eBay fret press caul.
