Knut Branson<p>The other day I re-waxed the bike chain, but I didn't mention that since then I've been unable to use the highest gear. It felt like it the derailleur was out of alignment. The shop didn't see a problem with the derailleur. One theory was that there might be wax build-up around the cogs, but I thought that wax would get pushed away easily. I cleaned around the cogs with a screwdriver and found plenty of wax (or dirt?) and now it's working again. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cycling</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LiveAndLearn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LiveAndLearn</span></a></p>

jeanoappleseed<p>Good morning from <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Pasadena" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Pasadena</span></a> where it’s cool and gloomy. Had a bit of rain earlier, but that seems to be over now.</p><p>Moses &amp; I still managed to hit La Crescenta Valley Dog Park early this AM for some serious ball-retrieving, his favorite! Not sure we'll be as lucky tomorrow because it sounds like rain starting overnight. </p><p>We go to the dog park Sunday, Monday, Thursday atm. Always La Crescenta. The other days we walk.</p><p>Here is one of my neighbour’s bird of paradise flower, in the driveway.</p><p>I have had more blooms on my own plants also this year (in the dog area), so I got to examine them closer as they open, both during cold or hot weather. The latter really speeds up the process and really allows the flower to fully bloom, revealing its complete self. </p><p>The orange parts are called sepals I believe and the blue darts are a combination petal &amp; stamen which is also a perch for birds. </p><p>I used to think there was a single stamen, but it's because it's cool here when flowers open so they don't always open fully. <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/LiveAndLearn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LiveAndLearn</span></a> </p><p>For info, this is a very interesting page: <a href="https://digitalbotanicgarden.blogspot.com/2011/04/bird-of-paradise-flower-strelitzia.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">digitalbotanicgarden.blogspot.</span><span class="invisible">com/2011/04/bird-of-paradise-flower-strelitzia.html</span></a></p>
Hebrew by Inbal<p>🚨 Breaking news! 🚨 </p><p>Someone just discovered that Hebrew books are read right to left—and they were not happy about it!</p><p>Yes, despite every description clearly stating that my Hebrew 1 &amp; 2 workbooks are true Hebrew editions (formatted exactly as Hebrew books should be), I still get the occasional 1-star review from someone convinced they were printed backwards.</p><p>Sigh. If only they knew… this is exactly how Hebrew is meant to be read and written!</p><p>So, consider this your friendly reminder: My workbooks follow the authentic Hebrew format—on purpose 🤗 </p><p>If you’re ready to train your brain the right way (or should I say, the right-to-left way 😉), grab a copy and start learning like a pro!</p><p><a href="https://babka.social/tags/fivestarreview" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fivestarreview</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/language" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>language</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/readandwrite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>readandwrite</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/hebrew" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hebrew</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/liveandlearn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>liveandlearn</span></a></p>

Mark McElroy<p>Aaaaaarggggghhhh. </p><p>After *meticulous* editing and proofreading, just spotted two typos in the acknowledgements section of <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/ParallelLines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ParallelLines</span></a>, which came in late … and didn’t go to my proofreader … and so *of course* I introduced two typos in the process. </p><p>I've uploaded changes to Amazon ... but I hate that the first folks to buy the book will be the ones to get the less perfect versions!</p><p><a href="https://pkm.social/tags/LiveAndLearn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LiveAndLearn</span></a> <a href="https://pkm.social/tags/IndieAuthor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IndieAuthor</span></a></p>
