I have realised that to create games with #MonoGame you really do have to "roll your own engine", or at least, use somebody else's. Do I want to be an engine developer? No, I don't, so what are my options? In this video I explain the crossroads that I feel I am at, and go through the options I'm currently considering to continue moving forwards with my #gamedev journey. youtu.be/UoNyTX-ZQKQ #learntocode

Another #devlog for my Calimoe #MonoGame library project. There's been a lot of refactoring work going on to get my basic sprites and other objects working consistently. I've also added the ability to draw 2D primitives, some basic text effects and a game clock class. youtu.be/LaPlfHwduK0 #gamedev #learntocode #buildinpublic

The work in this update was a lot less to do with coding and a lot more to do with fiddling with the artwork and the level design to get the game to look right. As much as I'd love to just focus on code, all this stuff is essential when creating games I guess! youtu.be/7a5iaS1HYQc #devlog, #gamedev, #monogame, #solodev, #learntocode

My 8 year old son has fallen in love with this old laptop that honestly isn’t useful for that much as the speed and wifi is so slow.

But he says he wants to learn how to code on it.

@codemonkeymike yes, I would recommend learning Racket. The Racket language is relatively lightweight compared to modern app development frameworks such as VSCode so runs nice and fast on older hardware, and it is designed specifically for teaching coding. There are some nice books aimed at kids for teaching Racket as well:

It is about as easy as learning BASIC was when I was a kid.

I'm going to learn JavaScript programming language from self-taught developer, Simon Bao. He has a dedicated 22 hours video about it

Every single day, I'll post it about my progress here. If you find my toot are irrelevant to you, you have three options:
1. Do nothing or wish me luck in my study
2. Unfollow or Mute my account
3. Show your support with favourite my toot. I'm very grateful for this one

Fun fact: I only have less than 5 followers, lol

Lots of people have never written a line of code in their entire life. If that's you, give it a whirl.

I can't begin to tell you how unbelievably satisfying it is to write code and then watch it make something inside a web browser.

I've been programming for over two decades, and to this day I still get excited seeing it happen. It's cool. Like, super cool. And I learn more every day.

Amaze yourself. You can do it.

I've been really enjoying working with Wikidata lately, setting up automated accounts like @libraries, @parks, and @lighthouses.

To see what else you can do with Wikidata, and to learn how to use it, check out a tutorial I put together: stefanbohacek.com/blog/making-
