2/2 The course is based on a #MOOC with #Jupyter Notebooks, videos, quizzes and case studies. "It's a very pragmatic approach, where we try to get students to question and understand where the ethical dimension lies" she says.

Here's my #introduction long overdue!

Hi! I'm a software engineer during the day and #music #math #planners #stationery nerd during after hours :D

My interests:

- I play the guitar, now I'm moving to playing the bass guitar.
- #emacs and #orgmode. #lisp is growing on me.
- #machinelearning and #jupyter in general
- #statistics
- Mostly #manga nowadays and some #anime. And then I started to learn Japanese as a result.
- #drawing
- Recently got into #lockpicking and #locksport. Tried my hand at #bugbounty in the beginning of last year.
- #cooking
- #fashion
- #chess

I'm a big fan of #irc and #rss feeds as well. I like using Matrix too btw.

Better workaround! In the custom.css one can reference other CSS files from a URL:

@import url(“<url to the web font css> ”)

So, I did that and then changed settings in Theme/Notebook to specify a code font. (I had to change the font setting in Notebook, just changing the code-font… the theme settings did not work.)

I'd put the actual URL in there but I think then Mastodon would try to render a preview...

I was all set to write a blog post about how I finally got a custom font (Hack) working in #Jupyter with Safrai by adding the webfont to the .jupyter/custom/ folder ...

but while it worked on my VM at work yesterday (Linux), the same process is totally failing locally on my Mac.

Nothing in the custom folder is seen by the browser (it all 404s), except the custom.css file itself.

So, I had to set somewhat tediously four Stop the Madness Pro font rules using Hack web font links (regular, bold ,italic, bold italic). And at long last, I have Safari using Hack in jupyter.

Hive mind, do you employ (unit) testing in data analysis scripts? If so, how and what are your best practices?

We frequently develop packages with unit testing. But equally often write "run-once" analysis scripts/notebooks. Those often contain functions and (more often) assumptions on loaded data but we rarely test/check these. This is something to improve but I wonder how others handle this.

Folks, I'm starting my post-#PhD job search low-key on the side while I write up my #thesis.

I have an odd collection of skills - #Linux, #Python, #Jupyter, #pandas, #DevRel, and I've done a lot of work in team leadership and management, and have led a multi-million $ not for profit in the past. Keynote speaker.

My speciality is #voice and #speech AI, more on the #ASR side with models like #Whisper.

I'm looking for something that harnesses all of these skills - and it will be a senior role with senior pay, given my experience, qualifications and proven capability. I have time and will be discerning about my next step.

Job titles that might fit here would be Senior Research Engineer, Engineering Lead, Lead AI Engineer or similar.

Looking for fully remote work, with one day a fortnight max in #Melbourne, AU. If you don't believe in #RemoteWork or #WFH, we're not a good fit.

Super keen on something full time rather than splitting my attention over multiple part-time roles.

Looking to start around August, so a fair amount of lead time.

Keen on organisations that have strong values alignment - #FAIR and #CARE data use, #EthicalAI, AI for social good.

No crypto, no web3, no deepfake stuff.

I have a #Jupyter notebook with interactive widgets that worked a few years ago, and now complains "No artists with labels found to put in legend." I am a #matplotlib newb and don't know what I'm doing wrong. The last cell has the error: github.com/nedbat/broken-noteb
