Tom Roberts<p>The dumb thing is, when I first saw Jira, I thought it was the best issue tracking system I'd ever seen.</p><p>I was, unironically, inspired by how it linked the software development cycle together.</p><p>10-ish years later, it's worse than it was back then. And now it promises to accelerate its demise as it spins closer to the drain hole.</p><p><a href="https://theblower.au/tags/Atlassian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Atlassian</span></a> <a href="https://theblower.au/tags/Jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jira</span></a></p>
Michal Bryxí<p>Did you ever close <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jira</span></a> ticket and immediately opened a "follow-up ticket" just so you can satisfy the <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/SCRUM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SCRUM</span></a> gods and claim more <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/storyPoints" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>storyPoints</span></a>?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Agile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Agile</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/IT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IT</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Development" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Development</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Poll" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Poll</span></a></p>
Thilo<p>Alright, I am giving this a try.</p><p>Checking news (i.e. social media) only once in the morning and once in the evening.</p><p>I made it through yesterday that way, even abstained from the phone on the toilet, and I am moderately proud of myself.</p><p>It is a bit hard for a <a href="https://mastodontech.de/tags/Scala" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Scala</span></a> programmer, because we frequently wait on builds to complete. <a href="https://xkcd.com/303/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">xkcd.com/303/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> Huge potential for distraction there. Queen of Insomnia<p>My <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/Jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jira</span></a> sprint board has a new layout. It feels like there are now lots of little voices shouting at me for attention. I don't like it. What's wrong with hiding things in context menus so I don't have to see them unless I need them? *hides*</p>
Elizabeth Tai | 戴秀铃 🇲🇾<p>Two months after applying this workflow, and I want to tentatively say that it has decreased my anxiety about work a lot. Before, I always had this free-floating anxiety about "missing" stuff, but now that I have this system, I'm no longer as anxious nor do I have Sunday scaries.</p><p>The system is simple. Everything work-related (chats, Jira notifications, email conversations) flows into my work email inbox.</p><p>I use special add-ons to transfer chats and emails into Trello tasks to prevent the deadly drain of context-switching and tab overwhelm.</p><p>What used to take me almost an hour to do is now done in 10 minutes.</p><p>Two months after applying this workflow, and I want to tentatively say that it has decreased my anxiety about work a lot. Greg<p>I finally disabled the infuriating <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Jira" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jira</span></a> behaviour that pops out the left side nav when the mouse cursor moves over the left 20 pixels of the page, exactly when I'm trying to click something that it suddenly covers up.
