I heard first thing this morning about Charles Edge's passing. As I was relaying the news to one of our former co-workers at 318, I saw this pic I’d sent from last year's MacAdmins Conference at Penn State.

I'm gonna miss seeing him at conferences, hearing him on the Mac Admins Podcast, and hearing about his next big project.

Another example of the same kind of #TTP was covered earlier today at #OBTS by the #Jamf threat research folks. The #RustBucket dropper, disguised as a custom "protected PDF reader" app, includes social engineering-flavored instructions on how to run the app: right-click to open. The attacker's story is that the app is so custom and secure it is unable to live on the #AppStore. Or to be notarized apparently, which triggers the #Gatekeeper warning thus necessitating the override instructions 😒

Another example in the "pros" column for managing your users' ability to be tricked by this malicious actor tactic. `DisableOverride=True`, all day long.

Ever since installing Jamf on my MacBook Pro, I’ve been having a bunch of weird issues with random freezes and network connectivity issues and programs taking too long to load. This weekend, I’ve had Finder crash several times, and it wouldn’t restart. The system error reporting dialog mentions “watchdogd kernel panic.”

This is several years old, but a lot of it sounds like what I’m experiencing: sigpipe.macromates.com/2020/ma

Anyone familiar with this? #macOS #jamf

Day 2 of the Penn State MacAdmins Conference has wound down. What I've missed so much about conferences is seeing people in person.

A popular destination is the Penn State Berkey Creamery for fresh ice cream. We stopped in for scoops after dinner. creamery.psu.edu

Then a few of us decided to walk the three miles back to the hotel bar. What do you call a bunch of IT folks having a good time? I like to call it "social engineering”.

Hello fellow queers! It's time for an #introduction

I'm MastoDom, working in educational IT, specifically in the #macOS, #iOS, #Jamf, and Apple  spaces.

He/him #Cis #Poly #Pan guy. Very happily married and partnered. We have two dogs and one cat - I'm sure you'll see pics in my timeline :)

I enjoy #Photography in my spare time, especially erotic and boudoir shoots which I specialize in.

Big #DnD guy, as well as any #TableTop or #BoardGame. Ask me about my Cleric, #PupTart 😜

Terminally uninterested #Gamer, mostly into simulation-style games or strategy. Lately that's #CitiesSkyline #Civ6 #PrisonArchitect etc. Been loving #TotK for a bit as well.

While you're here: Take my poll!
