Ross of Ottawa<p>Latest addition to the international cookie sampling, are a chocolate-hazelnut sandwich cookie from Turkey, and yet another <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DigestiveBiscuit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DigestiveBiscuit</span></a> from India, where they make pretty decent digestives. Results from all those years of British occupation no doubt.</p><p>Both are good, though I tend to compare all chocolate-sandwich cookies to the Bahlsen Pick-Ups which are a precisely perfect cookie (but sadly not available in North America). </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>Forgive me for all my sudden old-post edits! You might be getting a flurry of notifications from me if you interacted with me on the topic of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cookies</span></a> in the past.</p><p>I just went through all my old international-cookie-sampling toots and added a common hashtag. </p><p>I didn't realize I had a pretty good sampling going here already, so I might as well link them all together! </p><p>Click <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a> for a trip across various cookies from around the world.</p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>Walked to a nearby halal butcher I wanted to try. Small operation w/ a few staples too. Picked up a few things to support local, including these items. Maamoul are a favourite treat for me, but it's hard to find packaged ones that are a) very good and b) not from Saudi Arabia. These are from Egypt, so giving them a try.</p><p>The hummus-in-a-can I haven't tried before – I always make my own from scratch. Product of Lebanon so thought it worth a try.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>Love trying diverse international cookies. Esp when they're inexpensive.</p><p>Here are two "Parle" brand Kreams. By spelling it with a 'K' they don't have to use any actual dairy products, I assume. 69 cents a pack. Surprised the chocolate ones are from Mexico and the cardamom ones, India.</p><p>The Tunnocks caramel-chocolate biscuits I hadn't tried before. That's Tunnocks of tea-cakes fame, from Scotland of course. Gotta say – I like these even more than the tea cakes!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cookies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/biscuits" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>biscuits</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlcookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlcookies</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>About to sample this gift, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/durian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>durian</span></a> flavoured wafer cookies. Looks intriguing.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>In my on-going series of trying (unknown to me) international cookie products, we picked up these ones this morning from a local middle-eastern shop.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>Picked up these very inexpensive <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cookies</span></a> at a local South-Asian shop, though they're actually made in Mexico. Super tasty with a cup of coffee. $1.29 a pack!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>

Ross of Ottawa<p>My favourites in this genre are probably the Maliban lemon sandwich cookies from Sri Lanka. </p><p>(pic excavated from one of my old 2020 birdsite posts)</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>
Ross of Ottawa<p>I have a bit of a thing for packaged <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cookies</span></a> from far away places. These oat ones from Turkey are very good.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intlCookies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>intlCookies</span></a></p>
