Peter OS<p><a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>introduction</span></a></p><p>I didn't engage in social media for a long time because I was an English <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/teacher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>teacher</span></a>, which meant I saw firsthand how toxic social media was for many kids (and I didn't want students snooping on me). Now I'm in my early forties and work as <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/union" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>union</span></a> representative. </p><p>I'm disoriented by and fearful of social media, but I stumbled upon Mastodon a few weeks ago, and I've loved it so far. I'm here to learn. I'm looking for people who have a niche love of <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/postmodern" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>postmodern</span></a> literary and political theory and read <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/postmodernist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>postmodernist</span></a> authors like <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/PercivalEverett" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PercivalEverett</span></a>, <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/FredricJameson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FredricJameson</span></a>, <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/Lyotard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lyotard</span></a>, etc. Though I'm not very productive, I like to consider myself an <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/indiereseacher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>indiereseacher</span></a> (a term I recently learned here!) who reads lit crit research for fun and listens to lit crit podcasts like <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/horrorvanguard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horrorvanguard</span></a>. </p><p>I attend a <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/UnitarianUniversalist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UnitarianUniversalist</span></a> church. I live in Eastern <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/massachusetts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>massachusetts</span></a>. I try to live with <a href="https://hcommons.social/tags/radicalrespect" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>radicalrespect</span></a> for myself and others.</p>
