Traveling from #stockholm to #gothenburg via the "other" #Swedish #highspeed #train, the #X55 / #Sj3000. Unlike the x2000 it hasn't broken down at all!

And I'm massively impressed by the quality of the interior. It not just looks nice but also *is* nice: plenty of luggage space, wide open paths and toilets (specifically in wagen 7 which has the #accessibility toilet). And the seats move by electric motors (video)!

Time for another train post…

In 2018 I arrived in Fukuoka, Japan by catching a ferry from Busan, South Korea. After exploring the west of Honshu I caught two high-speed Shinkansen trains from Fukuoka to Tokyo, changing at Osaka. There were only 20 minutes between trains but I wasn’t worried, as Japan’s trains are famously on-time and it was easy to find my new platform.

There’s not much food on Japanese trains but train stations sell ekiben, lunch boxes which feature foodstuffs from the local region. You can see some in the photo below. It was a zippy journey across the country; when I fetched up at Tokyo’s Shinagawa Station I noticed a ramen place across the road and marked my arrival with excellent noodles. Great trip.
