Christof Maupin, Artist<p>Sometimes, when working on a larger piece, I pause for a bit and just make something else, like a random bead, pendant, or sculpture. This is a large, thick pendant bead with a core of fire engine red opaque glass, and marbling in other opaque colors, including teal, orange, grey, beige and yellow. These are made by me in another technique which allows to work on different and smaller forms. I reconstructed the technique thanks to many photos of historical findings. It is extremely labour-intensive, the material (usually from manufacturers) is very expensive and you need a lot of it.
