His work on Impromptu (later Extempore) was one of the reasons I became very interested in functional programming & Lisp (Clojure) back in 2010...Study in Keith: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq-260NUw5o&t=113s" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq-260NUw5o&t=113s</a>Stained: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TIaMRis8J0&t=63s" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TIaMRis8J0&t=63s</a>Both with slow, but epic build ups over 10-15 mins...Somewhat related observation & question from <a href="https://mastodon.thi.ng/tags/genuary2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#genuary2023</a> contribs to that topic: Even with more tools/langs available now, is interesting generative/coded music generally still a lot harder to pull off for people (i.e. there were much fewer submissions for that topic yesterday), since - even if going fully experimental and ignoring traditions - it somewhat does rely much more on temporal patterns & layers and interactions between those, and an at least basic music-theoretical background? My personal view & experience is that (as a medium) it's much more emotionally rewarding, but also much less forgiving than its visual counterpart if that background is lacking (and that is just the composition side, not even mentioning DSP aspects)...(Btw. I'm looking at all this from a tool maker POV...)
