This Is My Glasgow<p>Saint Andrew's Church on Renfrew Street in the Garnethill area of Glasgow. While this is a beautiful little church, especially when lit like this by the morning sun, in the heart of the city, I've not been able to find out much about it's history or when it was built.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/church" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>church</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowchurches" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowchurches</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>The former janitor's cottage of Garnetbank Punlic School on Renfrew Street in Glasgow. This beautiful little building was designed by Thomas Lennox Watson and was built in 1905.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbuildings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbuildings</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/oldschool" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>oldschool</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>Of all the random things I've come across on the back lanes of Glasgow, this was one of the most unexpected.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/keepglasgowweird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>keepglasgowweird</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/ferrets" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ferrets</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/backlanes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>backlanes</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/weird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>weird</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>Love this style of bootscraper from outside a townhouse on Hill Street in the Garnethill area of Glasgow. The exact same bootscrapers can also be found outside 10 Downing Street in London (and you can often see them on the background during news conferences and interviews carried out on the street outside - and yes, I'm geeky enough to notice such things!).</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bootscraper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bootscraper</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/ironwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ironwork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/streetfurniture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>streetfurniture</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>Looking out from Garnethill across the Woodlands area of Glasgow in this morning's sunshine. I just love it when you get views city like this across the city. They really are uniquely Glaswegian and it couldn't be mistaken for anywhere else in the world.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowtoday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowtoday</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbuildings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbuildings</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/woodlands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>woodlands</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowuniversity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowuniversity</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/cityscape" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cityscape</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>The rather brilliantly named Normal School for the Training of Teachers in Garnethill in Glasgow. Designed by D and J Hamilton and built in 1837, it was the first institution in Britain specifically set up to train professional teachers. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowhistory</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbuildings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbuildings</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/buildingphotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>buildingphotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a></p>
This Is My Glasgow<p>When you are in the Garnethill area of Glasgow, keep an eye out for the small bird sculptures on the top of the lamp posts. There's over 150 of them and they are part of an art installation called Chookie Burdies created by Shona Kinloch in 1993.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/sculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sculpture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/garnethill" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garnethill</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/publicart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>publicart</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/shonakinloch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shonakinloch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowsculpture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowsculpture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/pigeons" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pigeons</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/pigeonsmakeglasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pigeonsmakeglasgow</span></a></p>
