I'm surprised to see the number of players Dofus still holds. I was joking with my friend the other day that 3.0 unity launch being impressive efforts since the game "probably only have 5k players now, and 107% of them are French".

At these official numbers, #dofus is actually better off than #runescape at 170k (both #osrs and #rs3 combined). which is surprising considering only #ffxiv and #wow are usually listed ahead of runescape (and dofus too obscure to even be mentioned).

Note to self: Fallen London, FFXIV, do not adopt one or more cats,
investigate return of oh-fuck-no nausea and post-prandial pain (similar to gall bladder bullshit),
try not to fall into suicidal despair at the thought of seeking any decent standard of care from a decades-strangled NHS,
Also Greens took more seats than Reform, tell people that,
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,
christ this hurts.

Fresh new instance, fresh new #introduction time.

I'm Erin, yet another autistic transgender anarchist from so-called Portland, Oregon. I used to have fancy tech jobs with titles like "Lead Full-Stack Software Engineer" until I burnt out, got laid off, and discovered that the tech industry was done with me. Nowadays I survive on a very part-time gig as a general technologist and some freelance tech work when I can find it. My part-time gig is unionized through the IWW, of which I am a proud member. I've been on fedi under various names and handles since GNU Social was the cool new thing.

My special interests include Cybersecurity, Casio watches, Dungeons & Dragons, Final Fantasy XIV, the Indieweb, Linux, old ThinkPads, XMPP, Yuri Anime and Manga, and stuffed sharks.

Also, is there any other game that has turned non-combat professions into as complicated of a minigame as #FFXIV?

Hell, I suspect a lot of *crafting games* don't have anything approaching XIV's crafting system complexity (or even gathering system complexity, for that matter).

Oh lord, the #FFXIV cosmic exploration crafting missions are BRUTAL.

I tried to complete some of the third-level missions with a non-specialist and no consumables and they were all a complete crapshoot.

I've since crafted a bunch of food and pots and specialized and bought delineations because because why make it hard? But still, man, they are *not* making it easy. I'm going to have to really get good at L100 crafting to get through it.

It really is Crafting (Savage).

I still can't get past the intro mission for sage in #ffxiv

I dont know if I am not shielding enough, not DPSing enough, using the wrong shields & DPS options... there is zero feedback other than the NPC dies and I get to start over

This is one of the few story missions I won't drop the difficulty on because I feel like being able to understand the kit of the job is important.

The lack of targeting like you would have in a party and lack of in-game feedback on what to change make it rough.
