I submitted a request online to my employer's EAP eight days ago asking for a referral to someone who could advise on a financial matter.
No response as of today, so I called them on the phone to find out the status.
…which is apparently that my request wasn't entered properly into their system and if I hadn't called it never would have been handled. 🤦‍♂️ #headDesk #smdh #fail

“Human Interest” is terrible

Several years ago I worked for a company which outsourced management of their 401k to Human Interest. It was… not a positive experience. I don't remember all the details—I've worked pretty hard to forget them since they were so unpleasant—but suffice it to say that it was my impression that they weren't terribly good at any aspect of the work they needed to do as a company.

Had a really intense moment yesterday with a co-worker who had a conniption and accused me of being racist because apparently I'm not quite at the same point on the woke-scale as they are. This is exactly the sort of burn-it-all-down-everyone-has-to-be-as extreme-as-I-am-or-they're-a-racist attitude that makes enemies out of otherwise allies and partners. And there is an equally repulsive analog on the extreme right end of the spectrum too. And that's where we are all being pushed. #fail
