William Lindsey :toad:<p>Michael Tomasky concurs with Joyce Vance (see /1):</p><p>"Folks, it’s time to reengage. …</p><p>You can’t tune him out, even if you wanted to. William Lindsey :toad:<p>To those of us longing to opt out and just get on with our lives, ignoring what's going to be happening around us, Joyce Vance says,</p><p>"Politics is not some foreign apparatus, separate from our daily lives. Everything is politically adjacent: our families, our livelihoods, our freedoms. Our future world will be the one we are willing to fight for."</p><p><a href="https://toad.social/tags/Trump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trump</span></a> <a href="https://toad.social/tags/fascism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fascism</span></a> <a href="https://toad.social/tags/disengagement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disengagement</span></a> <a href="https://toad.social/tags/politics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>politics</span></a><br>/1</p><p><a href="https://joycevance.substack.com/p/the-relay-race-of-democracy" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">joycevance.substack.com/p/the-</span><span class="invisible">relay-race-of-democracy</span></a></p>
Berner Dad for EquALLity<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mstdn.social/@_L1vY_" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>_L1vY_</span></a></span> might it also be that <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/marginalization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marginalization</span></a> does not "kill" off people so much as it encourages apathy and <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/disengagement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disengagement</span></a> from the conversation? I suspect those most invested tend to stay engaged, e.g. the more liberal and more conservative, and many of those get louder, so various echo chambers (including the well-intentioned responses to this post) proportionately lose any true correlation with age - which is what is being reported as causation?</p>
