Linh Pham<p>I think Fedora 42 is a little optimistic of a timeline, given the current state of the Cosmic DE, I wouldn't mind swapping my travel laptop (which just got a fresh re-install of the KDE spin of Fedora 41*) to a Cosmic DE spin of Fedora 43.</p><p>F42 Change Proposal: Fedora COSMIC Spin (self-contained)</p><p><a href="https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/f42-change-proposal-fedora-cosmic-spin-self-contained/139532" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">discussion.fedoraproject.org/t</span><span class="invisible">/f42-change-proposal-fedora-cosmic-spin-self-contained/139532</span></a></p><p>*: I needed to do a fresh reinstall for several reasons, including clearing out some cruft left over from the original F39 install and undoing some oopsies from the past couple of weeks.</p><p><a href="https://linh.social/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> <a href="https://linh.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://linh.social/tags/CosmicDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CosmicDE</span></a></p>
Linh Pham<p>So far, COSMIC DE has been fairly stable on my test lapop running Fedora 41. That said, I had to switch to GNOME to check on a couple of things and... that's where things don't look so great.</p><p>Text is no longer readable in the Activities Overview, oversized icons and broken text in notifications, and incorrect icons in the Files app. Oof.</p><p>I'm glad that this is not a laptop that I use as my daily driver or the laptop that I take on the go.</p><p><a href="https://linh.social/tags/CosmicDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CosmicDE</span></a></p>
Linh Pham<p>Hello Cosmic DE on Fedora 41 🙃 </p><p>My earlier attempt to get the prerelease version of Pop!_OS 24.04 on the same laptop failed when it has a heck of a time with connecting and/or staying connected to my wireless network.</p><p><a href="https://linh.social/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> <a href="https://linh.social/tags/CosmicDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CosmicDE</span></a></p>
Seph :verified: VOTED<p>How does anyone use <a href="https://social.xcetera.biz/tags/Gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gnome</span></a>? I decided to give it a shot on my <a href="https://social.xcetera.biz/tags/asahilinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>asahilinux</span></a> install this morning, and that lasted... 5 minutes. Scaling, choice of 100% or 200%. There's a reason why I have <a href="https://social.xcetera.biz/tags/cosmicde" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cosmicde</span></a> set at 75% (80 would be better, but not available). And then there's the question of how you move between work spaces, and finally it borked my <a href="https://social.xcetera.biz/tags/signal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>signal</span></a> install so that I now have to open it from the terminal. <br><a href="https://social.xcetera.biz/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a></p>
