David McMullin<p>Having extended one section a little to make room for text I had inadvertently skipped, I am now where I thought I was a month ago on this composition: all the words are set, and all the vocal parts (choral and solo) are done, so the essential melodies and harmonies are all there. Edward Champion<p>I've been working on sound design and music today. And while I've scored soundtracks for other audio drama producers, this is the first time I've done so this extensively for one of my own productions. (The cafe music is licensed from others.) It remains utterly strange to change a few bars to accommodate the pacing of the scene or to even remember that I was the dude composing this. David McMullin<p>Huh. I’d been puzzling over what to do about a section in this piece I’m composing that seems disproportionately short, (40 seconds of fast music in the middle of a 20-minute piece is kind-of anomalous) and coming up with creative ways to make that work in my favor. In many times the bass track in my songs is initially recorded with bass guitar and then maybe re-recorded with a synth. Occasionally I go back and re-record the synth bass with bass guitar. Going back and forth like this gives me new <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/ideas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ideas</span></a> because these <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/instruments" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>instruments</span></a> lean towards different way of <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/thinking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>thinking</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/composing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>composing</span></a>.</p>
