Henry Winter 🤖
Inevitable talk in coverage of Chelsea over which centre-back they should recruit after Levi Colwill’s injury. But let’s first reflect on a talented 22-year-old currently beginning the long, often lonely journey back to full fitness after ACL surgery and wish Colwill well in his rehab. He's in good hands, and is a strong character by all accounts, but it's a desperately frustrating injury, especially on the eve of a season that promises so much.

Colwill's been playing so well, finishing (a very long) season strongly. This should have been a season of even more progress and success for him, competing for the PL and CL and pushing for a World Cup place. Chelsea’s best centre-back, matured into a real force last season, showing real leadership qualities, and got in all England’s post-Euro 24 squads, playing 5x (and offering cover at l-b).

Let’s hope to see Colwill back before the end of the season. He’ll be targeting that. In the meantime, the authorities can conduct even more research (plenty done already) into the rise in ACLs over past three seasons whether through workload, gym-load, speed, twisting, turning/planting of foot, pitch or other factors. #CFC #ENG
