• It's a #Debian-based distro and it barely sips resources to the point that even a #Poulsbo (#AtomZ520 + #GMA500)-based #Netbook (in my case a Vaio #P11Z) can run it fluidly as software renderer (#llvmpipe)...

TinyCore is a #BusyBox / #Linux and @bunsenlabs is a nifty #Debian derivate which runs even on a #GMA500 / #Poulsbo / #IntelAtom Z-series system like the #VaioP11Z just fine despite using #llvmpipe for rendering...

• Maybe #Mate (#LinuxMint) or #KDE (#ArchLinux) or #OpenBox (#BunsenLabs Linux) is more to your liking?

• As for me I've to fix @OS1337 and I'll gladly accept any help I can get (except one's an asshole like RMS OFC!) on that front.

Whilst I focus on the bare foundations, I'm not gonna prevent people from getting a proper #GUI-#Desktop on it if they desire. It'll just not be my focus...

• I want something simple & auditable even if that means #TUI / #CLI -Desktop with #tmux @ 80x25 is the default.

@noctilua @frameworkcomputer you could do that with way less.

@OS1337 runs smooth on 16MB and #TinyCore packs a whole #GUI in less than 512MB.

• Personally, I'd recommend giving @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabs and espechally @tails_live / @tails@fosstodon.org / @tails@lemmy.ml / #Tails a shot, and I'm shure a lot of folks use the hot-swappable external Mini-#SSDs on their #Framework laptops...

Because Iinstead of paying hundreds of $ for vintage hardware of limited use, why not #upcycle and #convert existing #COTS hardware like #ThinClients and turn them into something #secure that can still be used to some degree, even when they are too slow to run any decent #Desktop #Linux like @tails_live / @tails / #Tails or #BunsenLabs or whatever...

I don't expect @OS1337 to compete with #TinyCore or god forbid @bunsenlabs / #BunsenLabs #Linux (espechally since the former is a slim #Debian-based #distro that is fully-fledged...
