Will be sticking with Avast but Firefox was better at blocking YouTube ads.</p><p>I've got uBlock Origin installed with both browsers. Or I get 'skip ad' screen. </p><p>In Firefox with uBlock, I never saw the ads at all.</p><p>Not sure if it's Avast or uBlock.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Browser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Browser</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BrowserWars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrowserWars</span></a></p>
Jason844<p>Main reasons ditching Firefox are:</p><p>1. Crap like 'Pockets'<br>2. Last fall's Privacy-Preserving Attribution (PPA) thing that you had to turn off.<br>3. Very high memory usage (1 to 2 GB)/slow performance. Very noticeable after upgrading my home network for max 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps.<br>4. The current 'Terms of Service' kurfluffle.<br>5. Changes on the printing </p><p>It's slow <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Enshittification" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Enshittification</span></a> for Firefox.</p><p>Hopefully, the Avast browser will be OK. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Avast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Avast</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BrowserWars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrowserWars</span></a> </p><p>2/2</p>
Jason844<p>Since yesterday, been using the Avast browser as a Firefox replacement.</p><p>I'm a long-time Firefox user.</p><p>So far it's good. It works fine on my 2015 iMac iBook. </p><p>Main thing Avast lacks is separators in bookmarks, but folders can be used instead.</p><p>The downer is that Avast will not load on my mid-2012 iMac iMini. The Book of Kels<p>Seeing as Mozilla is in the early stages of enshittification, and Firefox locked up my system TWICE today by chewing up all my cpu power, it's time to try jumping ship again.</p><p>Epiphany/Gnome Web still isn't ready for prime time, and LadyBird still has a long way to go.
