Don Trueten :antifa:Deutschlands Engel der Geschichte schreit Während Israel mit Berlins Unterstützung Gaza zerstört, sinkt die Unterstützung der deutschen Bevölkerung rapide. Trotzdem unterdrückt die Regierung abweichende Meinungen und weigert sich, ihren Kurs zu ändern – alles im Namen der Sühne für die eigene Völkermordgeschichte. Zwei Monate lang hing Paul Klees „Angelus Novus“ (1920) in der Größe eines Notizbuchblatts allein in einem kleinen Raum des Berliner <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Bode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Bode</a>-Museums als Herzstück der mit Spannung erwarteten Ausstellung „Der Engel der Geschichte“. Mit seinem eng aufgerissenen, gezackten Engelsgesicht, das zwischen Bewegung und Erstarrung zu schweben scheint, hat das Aquarell (siehe Abbildung unten) einen überraschend langen Schatten auf die <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Philosophie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Philosophie</a> des 20. Jahrhunderts geworfen – vor allem durch die Augen von Walter <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Benjamin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Benjamin</a>, der es fast zwei Jahrzehnte lang besaß. „So stellt man sich den Engel der Geschichte vor“, schrieb der deutsch-jüdische Philosoph in seinen „Thesen zur Philosophie der Geschichte“ kurz vor seinem Selbstmord im Jahr 1940 über Klees Engel. „Sein Gesicht ist der Vergangenheit zugewandt. Wo wir eine Kette von Ereignissen sehen, sieht er eine einzige Katastrophe ... Der Sturm treibt ihn unaufhaltsam in die Zukunft, der er den Rücken zukehrt, während sich vor ihm der Trümmerhaufen in den Himmel auftürmt.“ Die Reise von „Angelus Novus“ durch das vom Krieg zerstörte Europa spiegelt Benjamins Beschreibung seines Engelsmotivs wider. 1933 floh Benjamin vor dem <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Nazi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Nazi</a>-Regime und nahm das Werk mit nach <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Paris" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Paris</a>. Als die deutschen Truppen 1940 auf die Stadt vorrückten, vertraute er es seinem Freund, dem Philosophen Georges <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Bataille" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Bataille</a>, an, bevor er zu Fuß nach <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Spanien" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Spanien</a> floh. Der Druck wurde für den Rest des Krieges in der Bibliothèque Nationale versteckt, später an Theodor <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Adorno" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Adorno</a> in die USA geschickt und gelang schließlich zu dem jüdischen Mystikforscher Gershom <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Scholem" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Scholem</a> nach <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Jerusalem" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Jerusalem</a>, der ihn dem Israel Museum schenkte, wo er seitdem aufbewahrt wird. Die Ausstellung im Bode-Museum, die Mitte Juli zu Ende ging, zeigte Klees Werk zusammen mit einer kleinen Auswahl engelhafter Werke aus den Berliner Staatlichen Museen, deren eigene Geschichte, wie sie den Zweiten <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Weltkrieg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Weltkrieg</a> überstanden haben, den Geschichten, die sie erzählen, zusätzliche Dimensionen verleiht. Giambattista <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Bregnos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Bregnos</a> „Kniender Engel“ (um 1500), dessen Flügel abgetrennt und dessen Gliedmaßen versengt sind, blickt still zum Himmel. Direkt davor hing eine große Schwarz-Weiß-Reproduktion von Caravaggios „Der heilige Matthäus mit dem Engel“ (16. oder 17. Jahrhundert), dessen Original 1945 bei einem Bunkerbrand in <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Friedrichshain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Friedrichshain</a> verloren ging. Mit ihren vom Krieg gezeichneten Körpern erinnern die Engel an die gewalttätige Vergangenheit Berlins. Beim Betreten der Ausstellung wird der Besucher von Richard Peters berühmtem Foto „Blick vom Rathausturm nach Süden, 1945“ begrüßt – einem Schwarz-Weiß-Panorama von <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Dresden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Dresden</a>, das nach den Bombenangriffen der <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Alliierten" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Alliierten</a> in Schutt und Asche liegt (siehe oben). Kirchen sind eingestürzt, Dächer sind ausgebrannt, Straßen sind zu Trümmern geworden. Aber wie Benjamins Engel sind auch sie zeitlose Zeugen. Und was sie heute sehen, schreit laut nach ihrer Abwesenheit in der politischen und öffentlichen Debatte Deutschlands. Sofort wirkt die apokalyptische Landschaft auf Peters Foto unheimlich aktuell. Die zerklüfteten Ruinen, die sich bis zum Horizont erstrecken, der verkohlte Beton, das Gefühl, dass etwas unwiederbringlich zerstört wurde: So sieht der größte Teil des Gazastreifens <a href="https://www.972mag.com/israel-gaza-total-urban-destruction/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">heute aus</a>. Doch so instinktiv diese Assoziation für die meisten informierten Beobachter auch sein mag, in <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Berlin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Berlin</a> im Jahr 2025 bleibt sie weitgehend unausgesprochen – oder sogar verschwiegen. Als zweitgrößter <a href="https://archive.md/20250604170335/https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/large-majority-germans-want-tighter-controls-arms-exports-israel-2025-06-04/#selection-1207.84-1207.101" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Waffenlieferant</a> Israels ist Deutschland Teil und Unterstützer einer weiteren Völkermordkampagne, die inzwischen Zehntausende, wenn nicht <a href="https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-06-26/ty-article-magazine/.highlight/100-000-dead-what-we-know-about-gazas-true-death-toll/00000197-ad6b-d6b3-abf7-edfbb1e20000" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Hunderttausende</a> <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Pal%C3%A4stinenser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Palästinenser</a> das Leben gekostet hat, darunter <a href="https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2024/10/11/in-the-gaza-strip-four-generations-wiped-out-in-seconds_6729106_4.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">mehrere Generationen</a> ganzer Familien und über <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/interactive/2025/israel-gaza-war-children-death-toll/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">18.500 Kinder</a>, <a href="https://english.wafa.ps/Pages/Details/158109" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">200 Journalisten</a> und <a href="https://reliefweb.int/report/occupied-palestinian-territory/1400-healthcare-workers-killed-israels-systematic-attacks-gazas-health-system" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">1.400 Mitarbeiter des #Gesundheitswesens</a>. Während Israel darauf besteht, den Krieg in Gaza zu seinem unvermeidlichen <a href="https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2025/05/end-unfolding-genocide-or-watch-it-end-life-gaza-un-experts-say-states-face" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">schrecklichen Ende</a> zu führen, liefern deutsche Politiker weiterhin <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Waffen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Waffen</a>, bieten diplomatischen Schutz und geben Israel freie Hand für sein Vorgehen in Gaza und der gesamten Region. Und obwohl die Unterstützung für Israel in der eigenen Bevölkerung stark abnimmt, geht die Regierung weiterhin <a href="https://www.972mag.com/germany-israel-palestine-solidarity-repression/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">gewaltsam gegen Andersdenkende</a> vor – alles im Namen der <a href="https://jewishcurrents.org/bad-memory-2" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Sühne für ihre eigene Völkermordgeschichte</a>. Damit hat Deutschland jedoch der Vergangenheit den Rücken gekehrt und weigert sich hartnäckig, die Trümmer der letzten 22 Monate anzuerkennen, die sich zu seinen Füßen auftürmen. Eine besondere VerantwortungGeleitet von ihrer inoffiziellen <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Doktrin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Doktrin</a> der „<a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Staatsr%C3%A4son" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Staatsräson</a>“ – der Idee, dass die Existenz Deutschlands eine unerschütterliche Verpflichtung zur Sicherheit Israels als moralische Verpflichtung erfordert, die im Erbe des <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Holocaust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Holocaust</a> begründet ist – hat Deutschland Israel immer als Sonderfall behandelt, der von der Kontrolle und den Bedingungen, die für andere Staaten gelten, ausgenommen ist. In der Praxis bedeutet das, dass Israel auf der internationalen Bühne immer wieder vor Kritik geschützt wird, dass Forderungen nach Sanktionen oder Rechenschaft abgelehnt werden und dass die enge militärische und geheimdienstliche Zusammenarbeit unabhängig von den Entwicklungen vor Ort aufrechterhalten wird. Auch wenn Deutschlands <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Doppelmoral" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Doppelmoral</a> gegenüber Israel <a href="https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/can-europe-make-it/double-standard-lies-behind-german-criticism-pro-palestinian-demonstrators/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">kein neues Phänomen</a> ist, gibt es doch einige aktuelle Beispiele, die näher betrachtet werden sollten. Anfang 2024 lehnte Deutschland <a href="https://www.972mag.com/francesca-albanese-icj-gaza-genocide/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">die Klage #Südafrikas gegen Israel wegen Völkermords vor dem Internationalen Gerichtshof</a> (IGH) rundweg ab. Einen Tag vor Beginn des Verfahrens erklärte die damalige Außenministerin Annalena <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Baerbock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Baerbock</a>, Deutschland könne „in der Selbstverteidigung Israels gegen die bewaffnete <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Terrororganisation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Terrororganisation</a> Hamas keine solche Absicht [zum <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/V%C3%B6lkermord" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Völkermord</a>] erkennen“. Dabei hatte Deutschland nur wenige Jahre zuvor in der Völkermordklage der <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Rohingya" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Rohingya</a> in Myanmar vor dem IGH interveniert und <a href="https://gpil.jura.uni-bonn.de/2024/01/germany-rushes-to-declare-intention-to-intervene-in-the-genocide-case-brought-by-south-africa-against-israel-before-the-international-court-of-justice/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">angedeutet,</a> dass die Messlatte des Gerichtshofs für die Feststellung einer Völkermordabsicht zu hoch angesetzt sei. „Es ist entscheidend, dass der <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Gerichtshof" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Gerichtshof</a> einen ausgewogenen Ansatz verfolgt, der die besondere Schwere des Völkermordverbrechens anerkennt“, argumentierten seine Anwälte damals, „ohne die Schwelle für die Feststellung einer Völkermordabsicht so hoch zu legen, dass eine Feststellung von Völkermord nahezu unmöglich wird.“ Die gleiche <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Heuchelei" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Heuchelei</a> zeigte sich, als Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz im März den israelischen Ministerpräsidenten Benjamin <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Netanjahu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Netanjahu</a> in Berlin <a href="https://www.dw.com/en/merz-invites-netanyahu-to-germany-despite-icc-arrest-warrant/a-71788069" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">offiziell empfing</a> und damit einen aktiven Haftbefehl des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofs (ICC) missachtete. Zu einem Zeitpunkt, als Israels Vorgehen in Gaza von internationalen <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Menschenrechtsorganisationen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Menschenrechtsorganisationen</a> bereits weithin als ethnische <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/S%C3%A4uberung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Säuberung</a> und <a href="https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2025/07/gaza-evidence-points-to-israels-continued-use-of-starvation-to-inflict-genocide-against-palestinians/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Völkermord</a> verurteilt worden war, kritisierte Merz die breite Kritik an seiner Entscheidung. „Es ist eine völlig absurde Vorstellung, dass ein israelischer Ministerpräsident die Bundesrepublik Deutschland nicht besuchen kann“, erklärte er. Doch nur zwei Jahre zuvor hatte der damalige Justizminister Marco <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Buschmann" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Buschmann</a> erklärt, dass Deutschland aufgrund eines <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/ICC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ICC</a>-Haftbefehls „verpflichtet“ sei, den russischen Präsidenten Wladimir <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Putin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Putin</a> zu verhaften, sollte er deutschen Boden betreten. Diese Verpflichtung wurde einige Monate später von der damaligen Außenministerin Baerbock <a href="https://europeanconservative.com/articles/news/german-minister-calls-for-war-crimes-arrest-of-putin/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">bekräftigt</a>: „Nichts zu tun, wäre falsch. Denn wenn wir nicht reagieren, ist die Antwort der internationalen Gemeinschaft auf Russlands Aggression Straffreiheit. “Mein Land, Deutschland, hat unmenschliche Angriffskriege geführt und den grausamsten Völkermord begangen, bei dem Millionen Menschen getötet wurden“, fügte Baerbock hinzu. „Deshalb haben wir eine besondere Verantwortung, unseren Teil dazu beizutragen, dass solche Verbrechen nie wieder geschehen.“ Doch immer wieder hat Deutschland gezeigt, dass es, wenn es um Israel geht, die Regeln und Werte, die es für andere gilt, einfach außer Kraft setzt. Ein weiteres Beispiel dafür war der jüngste <a href="https://www.972mag.com/iran-israel-war-ori-goldberg/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">12-tägige Krieg Israels mit dem Iran</a>. Nur wenige Stunden, nachdem Israel einen Überraschungsangriff mit <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Drohnen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Drohnen</a> und <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Luftschl%C3%A4ge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Luftschläge</a>n tief im iranischen Territorium gestartet hatte, bei dem Dutzende <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Zivilisten" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Zivilisten</a> sowie hochrangige <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Milit%C3%A4r" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Militär</a>s und <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Wissenschaftler" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Wissenschaftler</a> getötet wurden, veröffentlichte das deutsche <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Au%C3%9Fenministerium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Außenministerium</a> eine <a href="https://x.com/GermanyDiplo/status/1933478572099793066" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Erklärung</a>, in der es „den wahllosen iranischen Angriff auf israelisches Territorium“ verurteilte. Wie kann ein Land, das sich als Hüter des Völkerrechts versteht, einen Staat so vehement verteidigen, der dieses Recht so eklatant verletzt? Wie kann ein Land, das seit 80 Jahren eine Kultur der Erinnerung, der Verantwortung und der moralischen Rechenschaftspflicht pflegt, sich so unerschütterlich für die Verhaftung eines internationalen <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Kriegsverbrecher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Kriegsverbrecher</a>s einsetzt, während es einen anderen mit offenen Armen empfängt? Und wie kann ein Land, das seinen Schulkindern anhand der Ruinen Dresdens die Gefahren von Entmenschlichung und <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Faschismus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Faschismus</a> vor Augen führt, so blind sein für seine eigene Mitschuld an einer sich abzeichnenden Katastrophe? Solche Widersprüche spiegeln eine tiefe moralische Krise im Herzen der deutschen politischen Kultur wider, da Israels Vorgehen und die unerschütterliche Unterstützung der deutschen Führung dazu beitragen, die regelbasierte internationale Ordnung zu untergraben, für die Deutschland <a href="https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/englisch_gg/englisch_gg.html#p0142" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">sich angeblich einsetzt</a>.BalanceaktDiese Spannungen werden jedoch zunehmend unerträglich, und es musste etwas passieren. Seit Beginn des Krieges hat sich Deutschland konsequent auf die Seite Israels gestellt.
