It is perfectly clear to me that Capitol Hill Republicans are not their own people. They do not represent their constituents back home. They provide representation and constituent services for Donald Trump and that is pretty much it. They are so much under Trump's thumb that not one of them could engage in the controversy as to whether it is okay to deport a United States citizen child with cancer. The Republican Party is deathly sick.

In the 1960s, we had a catchall term, The Movement. Time has come to revive it. The woman shown here in a screenshot of a video short, Becca Balint, is an exception; but the leadership right now is mainly coming from people in the streets. The Movement. I am absolutely bewildered by the lack of effort coming from Capitol Hill politicians. Odds are you are too. But... Street demonstrations have been very big and very numerous. The Movement is underway.

VERMONT'S SUPREME COURT RULED THAT THE STATE'S MARRIAGE LAWS WERE UNCONSTITUTIONAL

Vermont then held a non-binding vote as to whether, in order to comply with the court ruling, we should adopt civil unions or same sex marriage. A person could vote for one or the other or both. I voted for both. Republicans in this state advocated ignoring the Supreme Court ruling. Civil unions won the day. The way I remember it, this was a first among the states and it started the ball rolling toward equal rights regarding marriage. Republicans were not finished with their opposition though. A major uprising of Republican voters targeted legislators who voted to enact civil unions. This lasted only one two-year election cycle but it was not pretty and it did some harm. LGBTQ community members, please keep in mind that this was a major struggle. Republicans were the clear villains as Gestapopublcians are clear villains today. To quote a Peter Paul and Mary song title, there is no easy walk to freedom. Thanks to Becca Balint for her post.

In a lifelong line of research, I have read many articles from nineteenth-century antislavery journals such as The Liberator (Boston) and the Herald of Freedom (Concord NH). What Trump's Gestapo is doing is precisely the same as what the slavocracy did in the mid-19th century. PRECISELY THE SAME! If this and the arrest of a judge does not scare you half to death, you're not paying attention. This is grim business and it must be stopped. And yet a search last evening and this morning through a variety of political posts found only two things talking about it: - outrage from my Member of Congress, Becca Balint, and a very poorly edited quote from Jamie Raskin. This Axios article is a good starting place

The article barely scratches the surface but it is fantastically better than anything else I have seen. Google News this morning all but buried the story of the arrest of a judge, though once I dug deep enough it is where I came across the Axios article. It should not be necessary to dig to read about NAZI Don's dictatorial takeover of the United States of America.

The dictator, Donald Trump, has brought us MAJOR TROUBLE. This is no exaggeration. It is going to be necessary to call on the people to come to the rescue of our country. Please see the attached quote from the first widely-circulated message from the Republican Party in its earliest days. It is beyond imagining how the Republican Party could have decayed away so extremely far from its origins.
